Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your lathe.
7.1 Cleaning
- After each use, clean all chips and debris from the machine, especially from the bedways, lead screw, and chuck.
- Use a brush or shop vacuum; never use compressed air as it can embed chips into moving parts.
7.2 Lubrication
- Regularly lubricate the bedways, lead screw, cross slide, compound rest, and tailstock quill with light machine oil.
- Check and grease the gear train periodically.
- Note: The lathe does not come with oil or grease; these must be purchased separately.
7.3 Adjustments
- Periodically check and adjust gibs on the cross slide and compound rest to remove play.
- Ensure all fasteners are tight.
