Game Objective
The goal of Monopoly: Marvel Super Villains Edition is to bankrupt all other players by acquiring Villain Contracts, collecting rent, and strategically using your Super Villain's unique abilities. The last player remaining with Cosmic Energy Units wins.
Playing the Game
- Starting the Game: The player who rolls the highest number on the die goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.
- Player Turn: On your turn, roll the single die and move your token clockwise around the board the number of spaces indicated.
- Landing on Spaces:
- Unowned Villain Contract: If you land on an unowned Villain Contract, you may buy it for the price printed on the board. If you choose not to buy it, the Banker immediately auctions it to the highest bidder.
- Owned Villain Contract: If you land on a Villain Contract owned by another player, you must pay them rent as indicated on their Property Card. Rent increases with Stolen Tech and Bio Upgrades.
- Lairs: Landing on a Lairs space allows you to advance to any space on the board.
- Chance or Reshape the Universe: Draw the top card from the respective pile and follow its instructions. Return the card to the bottom of the pile after use, unless instructed otherwise. Reshape the Universe cards may allow players to commit "dastardly deeds" like collecting other players' payments.
- Go: When you pass or land on "GO", collect 200 Cosmic Energy Units from the Banker.
- Jail: If you land on "Go to Jail", you immediately move your token to the Jail space. You do not collect 200 Cosmic Energy Units for passing GO. You can get out of Jail by rolling doubles, paying 50 Cosmic Energy Units, or using a "Get Out of Jail Free" card.
- Free Parking: This is a safe space; nothing happens when you land here.
- Buying Stolen Tech and Bio Upgrades: Once you own all Villain Contracts in a color group, you can buy Stolen Tech (houses) and Bio Upgrades (hotels) to place on them, increasing the rent. You must build evenly across the color group.
- Trading: Players can trade Villain Contracts, Stolen Tech, Bio Upgrades, and Cosmic Energy Units with each other at any time.
- Character Super Powers & Power Cosmic Ring: When you pass "GO", you can place the Power Cosmic Ring on your token. This allows you to use the special ability detailed on your Character Card during that turn.
- Bankruptcy: If you owe more Cosmic Energy Units than you can pay, even by selling Stolen Tech/Bio Upgrades or mortgaging Villain Contracts, you are bankrupt and out of the game. All your assets are turned over to the player you owe or to the Banker.
