Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the coffee machine and all accessories from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
- Placement: Place the machine on a stable, flat, and dry surface, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
- Water Tank Installation: Remove the water tank (47 oz capacity) from the back of the machine. Rinse it with fresh water and fill it to the MAX line with potable water. Reinsert the tank securely.
- Bean Hopper: Open the lid of the bean hopper located on top of the machine. Fill with your preferred whole coffee beans. Do not overfill.
- Drip Tray: Ensure the drip tray is correctly positioned.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet (220V).
- First Use Cycle: Upon first power-on, the machine may perform an initial rinse cycle. Follow any on-screen prompts or indicator lights.
Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee:
- Power On: Press the power button to turn on the machine. Wait for the machine to heat up and perform any automatic rinsing cycles.
- Select Beverage: Use the LED-lit buttons on the control panel to select your desired beverage:
- Ristretto
- Espresso
- Full Coffee
- Hot Water
- Light Ristretto
- Light Espresso
- Long Coffee
- Americano
- Adjust Strength/Volume (if applicable): Some beverages may allow for adjustment of coffee strength or volume. Refer to the specific button's function for details. For a regular cup, hold the coffee button down until it beeps twice.
- Place Cup: Position your cup under the coffee dispenser.
- Start Brewing: Press the selected beverage button to start the brewing process. The machine will automatically grind the beans and dispense the coffee.
- Completion: The machine will stop automatically when the brewing cycle is complete.
Adjusting Grind Coarseness:
The integrated conical burr grinder allows for adjustment of grind coarseness to suit your taste. Consult the specific instructions for your model on how to access and adjust the grinder settings, typically located within the bean hopper.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your Smeg coffee machine. The machine features easily accessible and removable components for simple cleaning.
Daily Cleaning:
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily.
