  • One Blink Video Doorbell unit
  • Two 1.5V non-rechargeable AA lithium metal batteries
  • Mounting kit (screws and case opening tool)

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Battery Installation

The Blink Video Doorbell operates on two AA lithium batteries. These batteries are included and provide long-lasting power. 3.2 Mounting the Doorbell

The doorbell can be mounted using the included screws. Choose a location that provides a clear view of your entryway. Ensure the mounting surface is stable. For optimal performance, consider the field of view (135° horizontal, 80° vertical) when selecting the mounting height and angle.

3.3 Wired Connection (Optional)

For continuous power and to utilize your existing in-home chime, you can connect the Blink Video Doorbell to your existing doorbell wiring (16-24 VAC). This connection also enables on-demand live view and two-way audio without a Sync Module. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about wiring procedures.

3.4 App Setup and Wi-Fi Connection

  1. Download the Blink Home Monitor app from your device's app store (iOS 12.5+, Android 6.0+, Fire OS 7+).
  2. Create a Blink account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to add your new Blink Video Doorbell. This process will guide you through connecting the doorbell to your 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi network.
  4. If operating wire-free, pairing with a Sync Module (sold separately) is recommended for optimal use, enabling features like live view on demand.

4. Operation

4.1 Two-Way Audio and HD Video

When someone presses your doorbell or motion is detected, you will receive an alert on your smartphone. You can then view live 1080p HD video and engage in two-way audio communication with the visitor through the Blink app.

  • Local Storage: If you have a Sync Module 2 (sold separately), you can save clips locally to a USB drive (also sold separately) connected to the Sync Module 2.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Replacement

The included AA lithium batteries can last up to two years under default settings. Battery life may vary based on device settings, usage, and environmental factors. The Blink app will notify you when battery levels are low. Replace batteries with new 1.5V non-rechargeable AA lithium metal batteries.

5.2 Cleaning

Periodically clean the camera lens and surrounding area with a soft, damp cloth to ensure clear video quality. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the device.

5.3 Privacy Settings

Regularly review and adjust your privacy settings within the Blink app. You can customize motion detection zones and privacy zones to control what areas the camera monitors and records.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 No Power or Connectivity

  • Battery-powered: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Wired: Verify that the doorbell wiring is correctly connected and receiving 16-24 VAC. Check your home's circuit breaker.
