Setup and Assembly
The SONGMICS shelving unit features a boltless, interlocking design for easy assembly. No screws are required for the main structure.
Step 1: Prepare Components
Unpack all components and lay them out on a clean, flat surface. Identify the uprights, long beams, short beams, and MDF panels.

Step 2: Assemble the Frame
Connect the uprights using the long and short beams. The beams slot into the keyholes on the uprights. Use a rubber mallet (not included) to gently tap the connections into place for a secure fit. Ensure all connections are fully engaged.

Step 3: Install Shelf Panels
Once the frame for a tier is assembled, place the MDF shelf panel onto the beams. Ensure it sits flush and securely within the frame.

Step 4: Attach Anti-Tipping Kit
For maximum stability and safety, especially with heavy loads or in active environments, secure the shelving unit to a wall using the provided anti-tipping kit. Follow the specific instructions included with the kit for proper installation.

Alternative Configuration: Workbench
Each shelving unit can be divided into two separate, shorter units, which can then be used as workbenches or smaller storage shelves. To do this, assemble the frame in two halves, each with its own set of uprights and shelves.

Operating Instructions
Adjusting Shelf Height
The shelves are adjustable in 5 cm increments. To adjust a shelf:
- Empty the shelf of all items.
- Carefully lift the MDF panel out.
- Disengage the beams from the uprights by gently tapping them upwards with a rubber mallet.
- Re-position the beams into the desired keyholes on the uprights, ensuring they are level.
- Tap the beams down firmly to secure them.
- Place the MDF panel back onto the beams.

Loading the Shelves
When loading items onto the shelves, distribute the weight as evenly as possible. Place heavier items on lower shelves to enhance stability. Do not overload individual shelves or the entire unit beyond their specified weight capacities.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the steel frames and MDF panels with a dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
- Inspection: Periodically check all connections to ensure they remain secure. Re-tap any loose connections with a rubber mallet.
- Stability: Regularly verify that the anti-tipping kit is still firmly attached to both the wall and the shelving unit.
- Environment: Store the shelving unit in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage to the MDF panels.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Shelving unit is wobbly or unstable. | Connections not fully engaged; uneven load distribution; anti-tipping kit not installed or loose. | Ensure all beams are fully tapped into the uprights. Redistribute items evenly. Install or re-secure the anti-tipping kit. |
| Difficulty assembling components. | Components not aligned correctly; insufficient force during assembly. | Verify correct orientation of parts. Use a rubber mallet to gently tap connections into place. Do not force if misaligned. |
| Shelf panels do not sit flush. | Beams not level or fully engaged. | Check that all four beams supporting the panel are at the same height and fully secured. |
