4. Before Installation (Preparation)

4.1. Acclimation

4.2. Subfloor Requirements

The subfloor must be clean, dry, level, and structurally sound. Any unevenness exceeding 3/16 inch in a 10-foot span (or 1/8 inch in a 6-foot span) must be corrected. Acceptable subfloors include concrete, plywood, OSB, and existing resilient flooring (ensure it is well-adhered and level). Remove all debris, wax, grease, and sealers.

5. Installation Instructions (Setup)

2. Measure the room and calculate how many full planks will fit. If the last row will be less than 1/3 the width of a plank, cut the first row lengthwise to ensure the last row is at least 1/3 width.
3. Mix planks from different boxes to ensure a natural blend of patterns and colors.

5.2. First Row Installation

1. Place spacers along the starting wall and adjacent walls to maintain a 1/4 inch (6mm) expansion gap.
2. Lay the first plank with the tongue side facing the wall.
3. Connect subsequent planks in the first row by inserting the short end tongue into the groove of the previous plank at an angle and pressing down until it locks.
4. Cut the last plank of the first row to fit, ensuring the 1/4 inch expansion gap. Use the leftover piece (if at least 8 inches long) to start the second row.

5.3. Subsequent Rows

1. Start the second row with the cut piece from the first row, or a new plank cut to stagger the end joints by at least 8 inches (20 cm).
2. Angle the long side tongue of the new plank into the groove of the previous row and press down.
3. Align the short end of the plank with the previous plank in the same row. Angle it up slightly, push it into the short end groove, and then gently tap down with a rubber mallet to ensure a tight lock.
4. Continue this process for all remaining rows.

5.4. Finishing

1. Once all planks are installed, remove the spacers.
2. Install baseboards or quarter-round molding to cover the expansion gaps. Do not nail molding through the flooring planks.
3. Clean the floor according to the maintenance instructions.
