1. Introduction and Overview

The Virone AS-1 is a portable, wireless motion sensor with an integrated alarm function, designed to enhance security in various environments such as homes or offices. It utilizes infrared radiation to detect movement and can be conveniently controlled using the included remote controls. Upon detection, the device activates a built-in siren with a volume of 90 dB to alert users.

2. Product Components

The Virone AS-1 Motion Sensor package typically includes the following components:

Note: Batteries are not included and must be purchased separately. The main unit requires 4 x AA batteries, and each remote control requires 3 x LR44V batteries.

3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to set up your Virone AS-1 Motion Sensor:

1. Insert Batteries:
   • Open the battery compartment on the main sensor unit and insert 4 x AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
   • Open the battery compartment on each remote control and insert 3 x LR44V batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
2. Choose Placement: Decide on a suitable location for the motion sensor. It can be mounted on a wall or placed on a flat surface as a freestanding unit. Consider areas where motion detection is critical, such as entry points or hallways.
3. Mounting (Optional): If wall-mounting, use the provided screws and wall plugs. Secure the mounting bracket to the wall, then attach the sensor unit to the bracket. The movable head allows you to adjust the tilt angle of the detector for optimal coverage.
4. Test Detection Area: Before final placement, test the detection area (up to 6 meters) to ensure it covers the desired space.

4. Operating Instructions

The Virone AS-1 Motion Sensor is operated primarily using the remote controls.

• Arming the Alarm: Press the 'ARM' button on the remote control. The sensor will emit a short beep, and an indicator light may illuminate to confirm it is armed. The system is now active and will detect motion.
• Disarming the Alarm: Press the 'DISARM' button on the remote control. The sensor will emit a different sound or the indicator light will turn off to confirm it is disarmed.
• Motion Detection: When the alarm is armed and motion is detected within its 6-meter range and 110° horizontal viewing angle, the built-in 90 dB siren will activate immediately.
• Alarm Duration: The siren will typically sound for a set period (e.g., 30-60 seconds) and then reset, or it will continue until disarmed by the remote control. Refer to the specific product behavior for exact duration.

5. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Virone AS-1 Motion Sensor, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Periodically wipe the sensor unit and remote controls with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the motion detection lens is clear of dust and debris.
• Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both the main unit and remote controls when the alarm's performance degrades or if an indicator light suggests low battery. Always use new batteries of the specified type (4 x AA for sensor, 3 x LR44V for remotes). Dispose of old batteries responsibly.
• Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, high humidity, or water. The transmitter protection class is IP20, meaning it is protected against solid objects over 12.5mm but has no protection against liquids.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Virone AS-1 Motion Sensor, try the following troubleshooting steps:

• Alarm Not Triggering:
  • Ensure the alarm is armed using the remote control.
  • Check the batteries in both the sensor unit and the remote controls. Replace if necessary.
  • Verify that the sensor's detection area is clear and not obstructed.
  • Adjust the sensor's angle to ensure proper coverage of the desired area.
• Remote Control Not Working:
  • Replace the batteries in the remote control.
  • Ensure you are within range of the sensor unit.
• False Alarms:
  • Check for sources of heat or air movement (e.g., heating vents, direct sunlight, pets) within the detection area that might trigger the sensor.
  • Adjust the sensor's position or angle to minimize false triggers.
  • Ensure the sensor lens is clean and free from dust or insects.
• Weak Siren Sound:
  • Replace the batteries in the main sensor unit.
