5. Installation

2. Remove Old Tie Rod Ends:

   • Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the tie rod end stud at the steering knuckle.
   • Use a tie rod end puller or fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
   • Unscrew the tie rod end from the tie rod. Count the number of turns required to remove it, or measure the exposed thread, to aid in initial alignment of the new tie rod end.
3. Install New Tie Rod Ends:

   • Insert the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle.
   • Install the castle nut and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque. Insert a new cotter pin through the nut and stud, bending the ends to secure it.
   • Tighten the jam nut against the tie rod end.
4. Repeat for all Tie Rod Ends: Perform the same procedure for all tie rod ends being replaced.
5. Alignment: After replacing tie rod ends, a professional wheel alignment is crucial to ensure proper steering and prevent premature tire wear. This step should not be skipped.
