Installation Instructions

Before you begin: Ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker. This timer requires a neutral wire for operation.

  1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the switch you are replacing and turn it OFF. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove Existing Switch: Carefully remove the wall plate and unscrew the existing switch from the wall box. Disconnect the wires from the old switch. Note: The old switch may have ground wires; these are not used with the new timer switch.
  3. Identify Wires:
    • Line (Hot) Wire: Typically black, coming from the circuit breaker.
    • Load Wire: Typically black or blue, going to the light fixture or appliance.
    • Neutral Wire: Typically white, connected to the bus bar in your electrical panel. This is essential.
  4. Wire the Timer Switch: Connect the wires from your wall box to the timer switch using the provided wire caps.
    • Connect the Black wire from the timer to the Line (Hot) wire from the wall box.
    • Connect the Blue wire from the timer to the Load wire from the wall box.

Upon first power-up, the timer may require initial setup. Refer to the product overview image for button identification.

1. Initial Setup (Time and Date)

  1. Press the MODE button until the clock icon flashes.
  2. Use the INCREASE and DECREASE buttons to set the current time (hour and minute).
  3. Press MODE again to set the day of the week.
  4. Continue pressing MODE to cycle through and set other parameters like year, month, and date if available, or to confirm settings.
  5. The timer will automatically exit setup mode after a few seconds of inactivity or by pressing MODE until the clock icon is solid.

2. Setting Latitude and Longitude (for Sunrise/Sunset)

This feature allows the timer to automatically calculate local sunrise and sunset times.

  1. Access the latitude/longitude setting menu (refer to the full manual for specific button sequences, typically involving holding the MODE button).
  2. Use the INCREASE and DECREASE buttons to input your local latitude and longitude values. These can be found online.
  3. Confirm the settings. The timer will then use these coordinates to determine sunrise/sunset times.

3. Programming ON/OFF Schedules

The timer supports up to 7 programmable ON/OFF events. Each program can be set for specific times or relative to sunrise/sunset, and for individual days or groups of days.

  1. Press the MODE button repeatedly until "P01" (Program 1) appears on the screen.
  2. Use INCREASE/DECREASE to select the desired program number (P01-P07).
  3. Press MODE to set the ON time for the selected program. Use INCREASE/DECREASE to adjust hours and minutes. You can also select "Sunrise" or "Sunset" options, with an offset if desired (e.g., Sunset - 30 minutes).
  4. Press MODE to set the OFF time for the selected program, using the same method.
  5. Press MODE to select the days of the week for this program. Options typically include:
    • Individual days (Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, Sa, Su)

  7. To exit programming, stop pressing buttons for a few seconds, or press MODE until the main display returns.

4. Operating Modes

The timer switch offers three distinct operating modes:

  • Automatic Mode: The timer operates according to your programmed schedules. The display will show an "Auto" indicator.
  • Manual Mode: Press the main ON/OFF button (often the largest button) to manually turn the connected load ON or OFF. This overrides the current program temporarily without deleting it. The display will show a "Manual" indicator.
  • Random Mode: Activates a random ON/OFF pattern to simulate occupancy. This is useful for security when you are away. To activate, press the MODE button until the "RDM" indicator appears.

To switch between modes, press the MODE button until the desired mode indicator is displayed.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: To clean the timer switch, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • No User-Serviceable Parts: There are no user-serviceable parts inside the timer switch. Do not attempt to open or repair the device.
  • Power Outage: The timer has a built-in memory backup to retain programming during power outages. No reprogramming is typically needed after a power interruption.
