Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your GPS speedometer:

  1. Panel Preparation: Cut an 85mm (3 3/8") diameter hole in the desired mounting panel. Ensure a clearance of at least 55mm (2 3/16") behind the panel to accommodate the gauge body.
  2. Gauge Mounting: Insert the gauge into the prepared hole. Secure it by screwing down the fastening ring from the rear of the panel.
  3. GPS Antenna Placement: Securely fasten the GPS antenna. For optimal signal reception, place the antenna outdoors or inside the front windscreen, ensuring it has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Avoid cutting the antenna cable.
  4. Wiring Connections: Connect the antenna cable to the designated socket at the back of the gauge. Refer to the wiring diagram below for all electrical connections. The gauge supports 12V/24V working voltage. Red and yellow backlights are available; connect the appropriate wire for your preferred backlight color.

Operating Instructions

Once installed and powered, the GPS speedometer will begin operation:

  1. Initial Satellite Acquisition: After turning on the power, allow the gauge approximately 1 minute to search for and acquire a satellite signal. The gauge will then display your current speed.
  2. Data Accuracy: The speed and other data displayed by the gauge are highly precise. However, all data is for reference only and should not be trusted as the sole navigation source, especially in critical situations.
  3. Backlight Options: The gauge features both red and yellow backlight options. The color displayed depends on which backlight wire (Red or Yellow) is connected during installation.

Function Selection and Overspeed Alarm Setting:

The gauge allows for setting an overspeed buzzer alarm threshold. To access this function:

  1. Enter Setting Mode: Press and hold the back button (or external button if connected) while turning on the power supply.
  2. Select 'BUZZ' Function: The LCD display will show "BUZZ". Release the button.
  3. Adjust Threshold: After selecting "BUZZ", the LCD will display the current overspeed threshold (e.g., "B 80" for 80 km/h). Press the button again to change the flashing digit. The adjustable range for the overspeed buzzer alarm threshold is typically from 10 to 240 (units depend on the selected speed unit, e.g., MPH or Km/h).
  4. Save Settings: To save the new setting, you must disconnect both the Power+ and GND wires, and then reconnect them. If only the Power+ wire is disconnected, the setting will not be saved properly.

Maintenance

The ELING GPS Speedometer is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. To ensure longevity and optimal performance:

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the gauge face and body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the display or finish.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion, especially in marine environments.
  • Environmental Protection: While waterproof, prolonged exposure to extreme conditions (e.g., direct saltwater spray, extreme temperatures) should be minimized where possible.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ELING GPS Speedometer, consider the following common solutions:

  • No Power/Display:
    • Check all power connections (IGN and GND) to ensure they are correctly wired and secure.
    • Verify that the power source (12V/24V) is active and providing the correct voltage.
    • Inspect the wiring harness for any cuts, pinches, or damage.
  • No GPS Signal/Incorrect Speed:
    • Ensure the GPS antenna has a clear view of the sky. Obstructions (e.g., metal roofs, dense foliage) can block satellite signals.
    • Check the connection between the GPS antenna and the gauge.
    • Allow sufficient time (up to 1 minute) for the gauge to acquire satellite signals after power-up.
  • Settings Not Saving:
    • Remember to disconnect both Power+ and GND wires after making setting changes, then reconnect them to save the settings. Disconnecting only Power+ will not save the changes.
