Introduction
This manual provides instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad. This keyboard is designed for use with Mac computers featuring Apple Silicon and running macOS 11.4 or later. It offers wireless Bluetooth connectivity, a rechargeable battery, and integrated Touch ID for secure authentication.

Setup
1. Charging the Keyboard
Before initial use, ensure your Magic Keyboard is sufficiently charged. Use the included USB-C to Lightning Cable to connect the keyboard to a USB-C port on your Mac or a USB-C power adapter (sold separately).

2. Pairing with Your Mac
The Magic Keyboard pairs automatically with your Mac with Apple Silicon when connected via the USB-C to Lightning Cable. Once paired, you can disconnect the cable for wireless use.
- Connect the USB-C to Lightning Cable to the keyboard and your Mac.
- Turn on the keyboard using the power switch on the rear edge.
- Your Mac should automatically detect and pair with the keyboard.
- Once paired, you can disconnect the cable for wireless Bluetooth operation.
If automatic pairing does not occur, navigate to System Settings (or System Preferences) > Bluetooth on your Mac and select the Magic Keyboard from the list of available devices.
3. Setting Up Touch ID
Touch ID allows for secure unlocking and authentication. To set up Touch ID:
- Ensure your Mac is running macOS 11.4 or later.
- Go to System Settings (or System Preferences) > Touch ID & Password.
- Click Add Fingerprint and follow the on-screen instructions to register your fingerprint.

Typing Experience
The Magic Keyboard provides a comfortable and precise typing experience. Its extended layout includes a full numeric keypad, document navigation controls, and full-size arrow keys.

Using Touch ID
The Touch ID sensor is integrated into the top-right key of the keyboard. It can be used for:
- Unlocking your Mac.
- Authenticating purchases in the App Store, iTunes Store, and Apple Books.
- Signing in to websites and apps that support Touch ID.
Simply place your registered finger on the Touch ID sensor to perform these actions.
Numeric Keypad and Navigation
The integrated numeric keypad is ideal for data entry, spreadsheets, and financial applications. Dedicated document navigation controls (Home, End, Page Up, Page Down) and full-size arrow keys facilitate efficient document and content navigation.
Battery Life
The internal rechargeable battery provides approximately one month or more of use on a single charge, depending on usage patterns. A low battery notification will appear on your Mac when charging is required.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Keyboard
To clean your Magic Keyboard:
- Disconnect the keyboard from your Mac and turn it off.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to wipe the exterior surfaces.
- Avoid getting moisture in any openings. Do not use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives.
Battery Care
To maximize battery lifespan:
- Avoid exposing the keyboard to extreme temperatures.
- Charge the keyboard when prompted by your Mac.
- If storing the keyboard for an extended period, charge it to about 50% and turn it off.
Troubleshooting
Keyboard Not Connecting
- Ensure the keyboard is turned on.
- Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your Mac.
- Reconnect the keyboard to your Mac using the USB-C to Lightning Cable to force pairing.
- Verify that your Mac is running macOS 11.4 or later and has Apple Silicon.
- Try restarting your Mac.
Touch ID Not Working
- Ensure your finger is clean and dry.
- Verify that Touch ID is set up correctly in System Settings > Touch ID & Password.
- Try deleting and re-adding your fingerprint.
- Restart your Mac.
Charging Issues
- Ensure the USB-C to Lightning Cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and your Mac/power adapter.
- Try using a different USB-C port or power adapter.
- Inspect the cable for any damage.
