3.1 Unfolding the Walker

Figure 3.1: Adjustment Function. This illustration demonstrates how to adjust the walker's height (7 levels) and armrest length (4 levels) to achieve a comfortable and ergonomic fit for the user.

  • Height Adjustment: Locate the spring-loaded pins on the walker legs. Press the pin and slide the leg up or down to the desired height. Release the pin to lock it into one of the 7 available positions. Ensure all four legs are adjusted to the same height.
  • Armrest Adjustment: The soft PU armrests have 4 adjustable levels. Locate the adjustment mechanism on the armrest supports. Adjust the armrests to a comfortable height that allows for proper posture and support.

3.3 Wheel Installation (if applicable)

If the wheels are not pre-installed, attach them to the front legs. Ensure they are securely fastened but not overtightened, allowing them to rotate freely. The walker glide skis are designed for the rear legs.

  • Position the walker directly in front of you.
  • Grasp the handles firmly with both hands.
  • Move the walker forward a short distance.
  • Step forward with one leg, then the other, maintaining your balance and using the walker for support.
  • Ensure the walker is stable before taking each step.

4.2 Fixed Mode vs. Interactive Mode

Figure 4.2: Fixed and Interactive Modes. This image illustrates the difference between the fixed mode, where the walker moves as one unit, and the interactive mode, where each side can be advanced independently for greater maneuverability.

  • Fixed Mode: In this mode, the walker moves as a single unit. It provides maximum stability and is suitable for users who need consistent support.
  • Interactive Mode: This mode allows the user to move one side of the walker forward, then the other, mimicking a natural walking pattern. It offers more flexibility and is often preferred by users with better balance. Refer to the product's specific mechanism for switching between modes.

To fold the walker, locate the one-click folding mechanism (typically a button or lever). Engage the mechanism and gently bring the sides of the walker together until it is fully folded. This compact design makes it easy to store in tight spaces or transport in a vehicle.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your GYMAX Folding Walker.

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the frame and components with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws, bolts, and pins to ensure they are tight and secure. Inspect the wheels for wear and tear.
  • Storage: Store the walker in a dry place away from extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your walker, refer to the following common solutions.

  • Wheels not turning freely: Ensure the wheel screws are not overtightened. Loosen them slightly if necessary to allow for smooth rotation. Check for any debris or obstructions caught in the wheels.
  • Walker feels unstable: Verify that all height adjustment pins are fully engaged and locked. Ensure the walker is fully unfolded and locked into position.
