Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of your ASRock B550 PG Riptide Motherboard into your PC chassis.
1. Prepare the Chassis
Ensure your PC chassis is compatible with ATX form factor motherboards. Install the necessary standoffs in your chassis for the ATX motherboard mounting points. Install the I/O shield into the rear opening of your chassis.
2. Install the CPU
Carefully open the CPU socket lever. Align the triangular mark on your AMD AM4 CPU with the corresponding mark on the socket. Gently place the CPU into the socket without forcing it. Close the lever to secure the CPU.

3. Install the CPU Cooler
Apply thermal paste to the CPU if your cooler does not have it pre-applied. Mount your compatible AM4 CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions. Ensure it is securely fastened and making good contact with the CPU.
4. Install RAM (Memory Modules)
Locate the four DDR4 DIMM slots. Open the clips on both ends of the desired slots. Align the notch on the DDR4 memory module with the key in the DIMM slot. Press down firmly on both ends of the memory module until the clips snap into place. For dual-channel performance, install memory modules in matching colored slots (A2 and B2 are typically recommended first).
5. Mount the Motherboard
Carefully place the motherboard into the chassis, aligning the screw holes with the installed standoffs. Secure the motherboard with screws, ensuring not to overtighten.
6. Install Storage Devices (M.2 SSDs, SATA Drives)
For M.2 SSDs, locate the Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4 x4) and M.2 (PCIe Gen3 x2 & SATA3) slots. Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot at an angle and secure it with the provided M.2 screw. For SATA drives, connect one end of the SATA data cable to a SATA3 port on the motherboard and the other end to your SATA SSD/HDD. Connect the SATA power cable from your power supply to the drive.

7. Install Graphics Card (GPU)
Locate the PCIe 4.0 x16 slot. Open the retention clip at the end of the slot. Align your graphics card with the slot and press down firmly until it is fully seated and the clip snaps into place. Secure the graphics card to the chassis with screws. Connect the necessary PCIe power cables from your power supply to the graphics card.
8. Connect Power Supply Cables
Connect the 24-pin ATX main power connector and the 8-pin (or 4+4-pin) CPU power connector from your power supply to the corresponding ports on the motherboard.
9. Connect Front Panel Cables
Connect the front panel headers (power switch, reset switch, HDD LED, power LED, USB ports, audio jacks) to their respective pins on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard's detailed manual for exact pin configurations.

Operating Instructions
After completing the hardware installation, connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Power on your system.
BIOS/UEFI Setup
Upon initial boot, press the Delete or F2 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility. Here you can configure system settings, boot order, and enable features like XMP for memory or PBO for CPU. Save and exit the BIOS after making changes.
Driver Installation
Install the necessary drivers for your motherboard's chipset, audio, LAN, and any other integrated components. These can typically be found on the included support CD or downloaded from the ASRock official website. Installing the latest drivers ensures optimal performance and stability.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your motherboard and PC system.
- Dust Removal: Periodically clean dust from inside your PC case, especially from fans and heatsinks, using compressed air. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
- BIOS Updates: Check the ASRock website for the latest BIOS updates. BIOS updates can improve compatibility, stability, and performance. Follow the update instructions carefully to avoid system damage.
- Driver Updates: Keep your system drivers updated. New drivers often include performance enhancements and bug fixes.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Power:
- Check all power connections (24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU, GPU power).
- Ensure the power supply switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Test with a different power outlet.
- No Display:
- Ensure the monitor is connected to the graphics card (or motherboard if using integrated graphics).
- Reseat the graphics card and RAM modules.
- Check monitor input source.
- System Instability/Crashes:
- Verify CPU and RAM are properly seated.
- Check CPU cooler installation and thermal paste application.
- Run memory diagnostic tools to check RAM integrity.
- Update BIOS and drivers.
- Peripheral Issues:
- Ensure USB devices are connected to the correct ports.
