1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your SWEDISH HUSKY POWER 52cc HKD5200 Brush Cutter. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the machine to ensure proper use and to prevent injury or damage.
The HKD5200 is a powerful gasoline-powered brush cutter designed for cutting grass, weeds, and brush in various environments, including paths, sidewalks, and gardens. It features a 52cc engine, 2.5 HP power output, and comes with both a triangular blade and a line head for versatile cutting tasks.
2. Safety Instructions
Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.
2.1 General Safety
- Read and understand all instructions before use.
- Keep children and bystanders at a safe distance (at least 15 meters/50 feet) from the operating area.
- Do not operate the brush cutter when tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Inspect the work area for debris, rocks, or other objects that could be thrown or damage the cutting attachment.
- Ensure all guards and safety devices are in place and functioning correctly before starting.
2.2 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Always wear appropriate eye protection (safety glasses or goggles).
- Wear hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs).
- Wear heavy-duty long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy, non-slip footwear.
- Use work gloves to protect hands.
- A safety helmet with a face shield is recommended, especially when cutting in areas with potential falling debris.
2.3 Fuel Handling Safety
- Handle gasoline with extreme care; it is highly flammable.
- Mix fuel outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
- Store fuel in approved containers away from ignition sources.
- Do not refuel a hot engine. Allow the engine to cool before adding fuel.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Fuel Mixture
The HKD5200 uses a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific gasoline-oil mixture. Refer to the engine manufacturer's recommendations for the exact mixing ratio (typically 25:1 or 50:1, depending on the oil type). Use fresh, unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-stroke engine oil. Use the provided fuel mixing bottle for accurate measurement.
- Fill the fuel tank carefully, avoiding spills.
- Ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened before starting.
5.2 Starting the Engine
- Place the brush cutter on a flat, stable surface.
- Engage the safety start button/switch.
- Set the choke to the "START" or "CLOSED" position (for cold starts).
- Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible.
- Pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly until the engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls).
- Once the engine fires, move the choke to the "RUN" or "OPEN" position.
- Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
- Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments before engaging the throttle.
5.3 Operation
- Hold the brush cutter firmly with both hands, maintaining a balanced stance.
- Use the harness to distribute the weight and reduce fatigue.
- Engage the safety trigger handle before applying throttle.
- Cut with a sweeping motion, moving from right to left for optimal cutting and debris deflection.
- Avoid hitting hard objects like rocks, fences, or concrete.
- For line cutting, the automatic line cutting blade on the guard will trim excess line to the correct length.
5.4 Stopping the Engine
- Release the throttle and allow the engine to idle down.
- Press the engine stop switch to turn off the engine.
- Wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop before setting the machine down or performing any checks.
