4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

  • AC Adapter: Insert the DC 6V 1200mA adapter into the AC/DC input jack on the back of the machine. Plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
  • Batteries: Alternatively, open the battery compartment on the bottom of the machine and insert 4 'AA' batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity.

4.2 Foot Pedal Connection

Connect the foot pedal cable into the foot pedal input jack on the back of the machine. The foot pedal can be used to start and stop sewing, offering hands-free control.

4.3 Threading the Machine

Proper threading is crucial for smooth operation and good stitch quality.

  1. Winding the Bobbin: Place an empty bobbin onto the bobbin winder pin. Guide the thread from a spool through the bobbin winder tension disk and around the bobbin. Push the bobbin winder pin to the right. Start the machine briefly until the bobbin is full, then cut the thread and return the pin to the left.
  2. Inserting the Bobbin: Open the bobbin cover plate. Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds counter-clockwise. Pull the thread through the tension spring and out the slot.
  3. Upper Threading: Place a spool of thread on the spool pin. Guide the thread through the upper thread guide, down through the tension assembly, up and through the take-up lever, and then down to the needle. Use the needle threader to pass the thread through the eye of the needle from front to back.
  4. Bringing up the Bobbin Thread: Hold the upper thread loosely. Turn the handwheel towards you to lower the needle, catching the bobbin thread. Pull both threads under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine.
