Eco-Drive Technology
The Citizen Eco-Drive system converts light, whether natural or artificial, into electrical energy. This energy is stored in a power cell, which then powers the watch movement. This eliminates the need for traditional battery replacements, contributing to environmental sustainability.

Setup and Initial Charge
Before initial use, or if the watch has stopped, ensure it receives an adequate charge.
- Initial Charging: Expose the watch dial to bright light (natural sunlight is ideal, but artificial light also works) for several hours. For a full charge from a completely stopped state, it may require approximately 11 hours of direct sunlight or 40 hours under a fluorescent lamp.
- Power Reserve: A fully charged Eco-Drive watch can run for approximately 6 months in total darkness.
- Low Power Warning: If the second hand begins to move in two-second intervals, the watch is indicating a low power reserve and needs to be recharged.
Operating Instructions
Setting the Time and Date
- Pull the crown out to the first click position.
- Rotate the crown to set the date. Ensure the date changes at midnight, not noon. If the date changes at noon, advance the time by 12 hours.
- Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position.
Using the Chronograph
The chronograph measures elapsed time up to 60 minutes in 1-second increments.
- Start/Stop: Press the upper pusher (A) to start the chronograph. Press it again to stop.
- Reset: While the chronograph is stopped, press the lower pusher (B) to reset all chronograph hands to the zero position.
- Split Time: (If applicable, refer to specific caliber H500 manual for detailed split time operation)
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and band with a soft, dry cloth regularly to remove dirt and moisture. For the stainless steel band, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth.
- Water Resistance: This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM). It is suitable for swimming and snorkeling but not for scuba diving. Ensure the crown is pushed in completely before exposing the watch to water.
- Storage: When not in use, store the watch in a location where it can be exposed to light periodically to maintain its charge. Avoid storing it in complete darkness for extended periods to prevent it from stopping.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose the watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below -10°C / 14°F) or sudden temperature changes.
