4. Installation

The Ecoey dual sensor alarm is designed for easy installation on either a ceiling or a wall. It is not hardwired and operates on its internal 10-year battery.

4.1 Recommended Placement

  • Install at least one alarm on every level of your home, including basements.
  • For optimal protection, install an alarm in every sleeping area and outside each separate sleeping area.
  • For CO detection, place the alarm at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) from fuel-burning appliances.
  • Avoid placing alarms in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, or near windows, doors, or air vents, as these locations can lead to false alarms or reduced effectiveness.

4.2 Mounting Steps

  1. Choose a suitable location on the ceiling or wall, away from obstructions.
  2. Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark the positions for drilling.
  3. Drill two holes at the marked positions. Insert the wall plugs if installing into drywall or plaster.
  4. Secure the mounting bracket to the ceiling or wall using the provided screws.
  5. Align the alarm unit with the mounting bracket and twist clockwise to secure it in place. The unit will activate automatically once properly mounted.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Regular Testing

Test your alarm weekly by pressing the Test/Silence button. The alarm should sound with the appropriate smoke and CO patterns.

6.2 Cleaning Your Alarm

To keep your alarm in good working order, clean it at least once a month. Use a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris from the vents around the alarm. Do not use cleaning solvents or spray chemicals directly on the alarm.

6.3 Battery Life and Replacement

This alarm is equipped with a sealed, built-in 10-year lithium battery. The battery is not replaceable. When the battery is nearing the end of its life, the alarm will emit a low battery warning (a chirp and/or yellow LED flash). At this point, the entire unit must be replaced to ensure continued protection.
