4. Installation
The Ecoey dual sensor alarm is designed for easy installation on either a ceiling or a wall. It is not hardwired and operates on its internal 10-year battery.
4.1 Recommended Placement
- Install at least one alarm on every level of your home, including basements.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Regular Testing
Test your alarm weekly by pressing the Test/Silence button. The alarm should sound with the appropriate smoke and CO patterns.
6.2 Cleaning Your Alarm
To keep your alarm in good working order, clean it at least once a month. Use a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris from the vents around the alarm. Do not use cleaning solvents or spray chemicals directly on the alarm.
6.3 Battery Life and Replacement
This alarm is equipped with a sealed, built-in 10-year lithium battery. The battery is not replaceable. When the battery is nearing the end of its life, the alarm will emit a low battery warning (a chirp and/or yellow LED flash). At this point, the entire unit must be replaced to ensure continued protection.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Alarm chirps periodically (Yellow LED) | Low battery warning or fault. | If the unit is chirping due to low battery, it needs to be replaced. If it's a fault, try cleaning the unit. If the fault persists, replace the unit. |
| Alarm sounds without apparent smoke/CO (Red LED) | False alarm due to steam, cooking fumes, dust, or high humidity. | Press the Test/Silence button to silence the alarm. Ventilate the area. If false alarms are frequent, review placement. |
| Alarm does not sound during test | Unit not activated, faulty unit, or end-of-life. | Ensure the unit is properly twisted onto the mounting bracket. If it still doesn't work, the unit may be faulty or at its end-of-life and needs replacement. |
| Alarm sounds for smoke or CO | Presence of smoke or carbon monoxide. |
