4.1. Receiving Notifications

The sensor sends push notifications to your smartphone via the Swann Security app whenever the magnetic connection between the sensor and receiver is disrupted (i.e., when a window or door is opened) or restored (when it's closed).

4.2. Configuring Modes and Alerts

Within the Swann Security app, you can configure different modes (Home, Night, Away) to determine when you receive notifications or trigger an optional siren. To do this:

  1. In the app, select "Modes".
  2. Then select "Configure Modes".
  3. Choose the mode you wish to configure (Home, Night, or Away).
  4. Scroll to the "Window Door" device section.
  5. Toggle "Receive push notifications" to ON to get alerts when the sensor is activated (opened or closed).
  6. Toggle "Trigger all sirens" to ON if you have an optional Swann siren and wish for it to activate when the sensor is triggered.
  7. Tap "Save" after making your selections.
  8. To apply the settings, toggle to another mode and then back to your desired mode.

4.3. Testing the Sensor

To verify the sensor's functionality:

  1. In the Swann Security app, select "Modes" and choose the mode you want to test.
  2. Open the window or door where the sensor is installed.
  3. The status LED on the sensor will glow blue for 5 seconds, indicating a change in its open or closed state.
  4. Your app should send a push notification, and if configured, an optional siren will activate.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Battery Replacement

The sensor is powered by two AAA batteries. When replacing batteries, wait 3 seconds for the pairing mode to time out after inserting new batteries. The sensor will then automatically reconnect to the previously configured Wi-Fi network.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Sensor not pairing: Ensure your Wi-Fi router is dual-band and you are connecting to the 2.4GHz network. Make sure the sensor is near your network router during setup. Re-insert batteries to re-activate pairing mode if it timed out.
  • No notifications: Check the "Modes" settings in the Swann Security app to ensure "Receive push notifications" is enabled for the relevant mode (Home, Night, Away). Verify your smartphone's notification settings for the Swann Security app.
  • Sensor offline: Ensure the sensor is within good Wi-Fi coverage. Check battery levels in the app or replace batteries if low.
  • Incorrect open/closed status: Verify that the gap between the main sensor unit and the magnetic contact is less than 3/8 inch when the door/window is closed. Ensure both parts are securely mounted and aligned.
