This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and effective operation of your EVTSCAN Smart Sensor AS816 Digital Anemometer. This device is designed for measuring wind speed and temperature, offering a compact and portable solution for various applications.
2. Safety Information
- Read all instructions carefully before using the device.
- Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
- Keep the device away from strong magnetic fields.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.
- Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
- Dispose of batteries and the device according to local regulations.
3. Product Overview
The EVTSCAN AS816 Digital Anemometer is a handheld device featuring a rotating vane sensor for wind speed and an integrated temperature sensor. It includes an LCD display with backlight for clear readings.

3.1 Components
- Wind Speed Sensor (Vane): Measures air velocity.
- LCD Display: Shows wind speed, temperature, and unit indicators.
- Power Button (⏻): Turns the device on or off.
- Mode Button: Cycles through measurement modes (e.g., current, average, max).
- Unit Button: Changes wind speed units (m/s, ft/min, knots, km/h, mph).
- °C/°F Button: Toggles temperature display between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
- Data Hold Button (H): Freezes the current reading on the display.
- Backlight Button: Activates or deactivates the LCD backlight.
- Battery Compartment: Located on the back of the device.

4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert three (3) 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Batteries are not included with the device and must be purchased separately.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
- To turn on the device, press the ⏻ (Power) button. The LCD display will illuminate.
- To turn off the device, press and hold the ⏻ (Power) button for a few seconds until the display turns off.
- The device features an automatic power-off function to conserve battery life if inactive for a certain period.
5.2 Wind Speed Measurement
- Ensure the device is powered on.
- Hold the anemometer so that the wind flows directly through the rotating vane sensor.
- The current wind speed will be displayed on the LCD.
- Press the Unit button to cycle through different wind speed units: meters per second (m/s), feet per minute (ft/min), knots, kilometers per hour (km/h), and miles per hour (mph).
- Press the Mode button to switch between current wind speed, average wind speed, and maximum wind speed readings. The display will indicate the selected mode.
5.3 Temperature Measurement
- The device continuously measures ambient temperature, which is displayed on the lower part of the LCD screen.
- Press the °C/°F button to toggle the temperature display between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
5.4 Data Hold Function
- To freeze the current reading on the display, press the H (Data Hold) button. The "HOLD" indicator will appear on the screen.
- Press the H button again to release the hold and resume live measurements.
5.5 Backlight Control
- To activate the LCD backlight for better visibility in low-light conditions, press the backlight button (often integrated with another button or a dedicated light icon).
- Press the button again to turn off the backlight.
5.6 Low Battery Indication
When the battery level is low, a low battery indicator icon will appear on the LCD display. Replace the batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings and continuous operation.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
- Sensor Care: Keep the rotating vane sensor free from dust and debris to ensure accurate measurements. Avoid touching the vane with your fingers.
7. Troubleshooting
