3.2 Installation Steps (General)

  1. Prepare CPU and Motherboard: Ensure your CPU is properly seated in its socket. If thermal paste is not pre-applied to the cooler's cold plate, apply a thin, even layer to the CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS).
  2. Install Mounting Brackets: Attach the appropriate Intel or AMD mounting brackets to the CPU block according to your CPU socket type.
  3. Mount Radiator and Fans:
    • Attach the three 120mm ARGB fans to the radiator using the provided screws. Ensure the fan airflow direction is appropriate for your case's cooling strategy (intake or exhaust).
    • Mount the radiator assembly to your PC case. Common locations include the top, front, or rear of the case, depending on size and clearance.
  4. Install CPU Block: Carefully place the CPU block onto the CPU, aligning the mounting holes with the backplate or standoffs. Secure it evenly with the provided thumb screws or nuts.
  5. Connect Cables:
    • Connect the pump power cable to the CPU_FAN or AIO_PUMP header on your motherboard.
    • Connect the fan power cables (using the splitter if necessary) to available fan headers on your motherboard.
    • Connect the ARGB cables from the fans and CPU block to your motherboard's 5V ARGB header or a compatible ARGB controller.

3.3 Key Design Features for Installation

Rotatable blockhead on MSI AIO cooler

Figure 4: The rotatable blockhead allows for flexible orientation.

The CPU block features a Rotatable Blockhead design, allowing you to mount the cold plate at any orientation and then turn the blockhead up to 270 degrees to keep the MSI logo upright for aesthetic purposes.

The cooler utilizes Evaporation Proof Tubing with a multi-layer structure and reinforced mesh plastic tube, enhancing durability and preventing liquid evaporation over time.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the MSI MAG CoreLiquid E360 White operates automatically to cool your CPU. For advanced control and customization, use MSI's software (e.g., MSI Center) or your motherboard's BIOS.

4.1 ARGB Fan Control

The included ARGB fans support customizable lighting effects. Connect them to a compatible 5V ARGB header on your motherboard or an ARGB controller. Use your motherboard's RGB software or MSI's dedicated software to synchronize and customize the lighting patterns and colors.

4.2 Fan and Pump Speed Control

The PWM fans allow for precise speed control based on CPU temperature, optimizing cooling performance and noise levels. The pump speed can also be adjusted via BIOS or software. For optimal performance, ensure the pump runs at its maximum speed or a high fixed speed to maintain consistent flow.

The fans are constructed with FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) for reduced noise and vibrations, and Low Impurity Acrylic for enhanced ARGB lighting presentation.

Pump cooling design illustration

Figure 7: Illustration of the pump cooling design.

The innovative Pump Cooling Design ensures that the cooled water temperature is effectively delivered to the heat source, reducing CPU temperatures. The pump is integrated into the radiator to minimize noise.

Pump motor resonance elimination illustration

Figure 8: Illustration of pump motor resonance elimination.

A durable three-phase motor at the core of the pump generates minimal vibrations, contributing to long-lasting and quiet operation.

Full CPU coverage with micro-channel design

Figure 9: Enhanced micro-channel design for full CPU coverage.

The Full CPU Coverage design, achieved by enlarging the contact area between the coolant and the copper base of the water block, maximizes heat dissipation from the CPU through an enhanced density micro-channel design.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your liquid cooler.

  • Dust Cleaning: Periodically clean dust from the radiator fins and fan blades using compressed air or a soft brush. Accumulated dust can impede airflow and reduce cooling efficiency.
  • Inspect Tubing and Connections: Visually inspect the tubing and connections for any signs of kinks, leaks, or damage. While the tubing is designed to be evaporation-proof, regular checks are recommended.
  • Monitor Temperatures: Use monitoring software to keep an eye on your CPU temperatures. Significant increases in idle or load temperatures may indicate a need for further inspection or cleaning.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MSI MAG CoreLiquid E360 White, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • High CPU Temperatures:
    • Ensure the CPU block is securely mounted and making good contact with the CPU.
    • Verify that thermal paste was applied correctly.
    • Check if the pump is running (you might hear a faint hum or feel vibrations). Ensure it's connected to the correct motherboard header and receiving power.
    • Confirm that radiator fans are spinning and oriented correctly for airflow.
    • Clean any dust buildup on the radiator fins.
  • Fans Not Spinning or ARGB Not Working:
    • Check all fan power and ARGB connections to the motherboard or controller.
    • Ensure the ARGB software or BIOS settings are configured correctly.
    • Test fans individually if possible to identify a faulty fan.
  • Unusual Noise:
    • Verify that fan screws are tightened and fans are not hitting any cables or case components.
    • A gurgling sound might indicate air bubbles in the loop. This often resolves itself over time, but ensure the radiator is positioned higher than the pump if possible to allow air to collect at the highest point.
    • If the noise persists and is loud, it could indicate a pump issue.
