General Safety Instructions
Always follow basic safety precautions when using electric tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Keep this manual for future reference.
- Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
- Personal Safety: Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Battery Tool Use and Care: Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.
Setup
1. Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge both battery packs. The charging time is approximately 70 minutes per battery.
- Connect the charger to a suitable power outlet.
- Slide the battery pack onto the charger until it clicks into place.
- The charger indicator light will show the charging status. Refer to the charger's specific instructions for light indications.
- Once fully charged, remove the battery from the charger.
2. Installing/Removing Battery Pack
To install, align the battery pack with the base of the drill handle and slide it in until it locks securely. To remove, press the battery release button (usually located on the front or sides of the battery pack) and slide the battery out.
3. Installing/Removing Drill Bits or Screwdriver Bits
This drill features a keyless chuck, allowing for quick bit changes without a chuck key. The chuck clamping range is 1.5-13 mm.
- Ensure the drill is switched off and the battery pack is removed for safety.
- Grip the rear part of the chuck firmly with one hand.
- Rotate the front part of the chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws.
- Insert the drill bit or screwdriver bit into the chuck jaws, ensuring it is centered.
- Rotate the front part of the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit. Hand-tighten firmly.
- To remove a bit, reverse the process.
Operating the Drill/Driver
1. Power On/Off and Variable Speed Control
The drill is activated by pressing the trigger switch. The speed is variable and controlled by the amount of pressure applied to the trigger. Pressing lightly results in lower speed, while pressing fully results in maximum speed (0-350 RPM in Gear I, 0-1350 RPM in Gear II).
2. Forward/Reverse Rotation
A forward/reverse switch (typically a slider above the trigger) allows you to change the direction of rotation. Set it to forward for drilling and tightening screws, and reverse for loosening screws or removing bits.
3. Gear Selection (Speed Settings)
The drill has two mechanical speed gears, selected via a switch on top of the tool:
- Gear I (Low Speed, High Torque): Ideal for heavy-duty screwdriving, drilling large holes, or working with tough materials. (0-350 RPM)
- Gear II (High Speed, Low Torque): Suitable for fast drilling of smaller holes and light-duty screwdriving. (0-1350 RPM)
Always select the appropriate gear before starting the operation. Do not change gears while the drill is running.
4. Torque Adjustment (Clutch Settings)
The torque adjustment collar (numbered ring behind the chuck) allows you to set the amount of torque before the clutch disengages. This prevents over-tightening screws and stripping screw heads or damaging the workpiece. The torque range is 1.8-50 Nm.
- Lower numbers (1-5) are for small screws or soft materials.
- Higher numbers (6-20) are for larger screws or harder materials.
- The drill symbol setting bypasses the clutch for maximum torque, suitable for drilling.
5. Integrated LED Light
The built-in LED light illuminates the work area when the trigger is pressed, providing better visibility in dimly lit spaces.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drill/driver.
- Cleaning: Keep the ventilation openings clean and free from dust. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the tool. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Chuck Maintenance: Periodically clean the chuck jaws to ensure proper gripping of bits.
- Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store fully discharged batteries for extended periods. Recharge them periodically if not in use.
- Storage: When not in use, store the drill/driver, batteries, and charger in the BMC plastic case in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
- Service: All repairs should be performed by qualified service personnel using only identical replacement parts.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Drill does not start. | Battery not charged or not properly inserted. | Charge battery. Ensure battery is fully inserted and locked. |
| Loss of power during operation. | Battery low or overloaded tool. | Recharge battery. Reduce pressure or use a larger drill bit/lower speed. |
| Chuck not holding bit securely. | Chuck jaws dirty or not tightened enough. | Clean chuck jaws. Ensure bit is inserted correctly and chuck is hand-tightened firmly. |
| Overheating. | Continuous heavy use or blocked ventilation. | Allow tool to cool down. Clear ventilation openings. |
