4. Setup & Installation

The Lithonia Lighting CPANL LED Flat Panel can be installed in T-Grid ceilings using integral clips or surface mounted using the included DCMK 224 bracket. This section details the surface mount installation process.

4.1. Required Tools

• Drill with Bits (1/2-inch drill bit for drywall)
• Pencil/Marker

4.2. Installation Steps (Surface Mount with DCMK 224)

1. Prepare the DCMK 224 Bracket:
   • Place the two hanger side brackets with the flat side down on a flat surface.
   • Position the hanger center bracket using the locating tabs. It will only sit flat in the correct orientation.
   • Use the provided smooth-headed screws to fasten the center bracket to the side hanger brackets. Fully tighten the screws. (Note: You will have one extra screw after this step).
2. Attach Hinges and Latches to CPANL:
   • Attach both surface mount hinges and latches to the same side of the CPANL using a hand Phillips screwdriver.
   • IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE A DRILL OR POWER TOOL, AND DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. (Note: You will have two extra screws after this step).
3. Mark Mounting Locations on Ceiling:
   • Measure the assembled DCMK 224 bracket to ensure it is square.
   • Position the mounting bracket on the ceiling in relation to your junction box.
   • Mark four mounting holes on the ceiling. For drywall ceilings, drill these holes with a 1/2-inch drill bit.
4. Secure Hanger Brackets to Ceiling:
   • For drywall ceilings, mount the bracket using the four toggle bolts provided.
   • Thread the bolts through the holes on each end of the hanger brackets, then thread through the toggle nuts.
   • Fold the toggle nut and push it through each of the drilled holes in the ceiling.
   • Using a power drill, tighten the bolts until the hanger brackets are securely attached and flush with the ceiling.
5. Mount CPANL to Hanger Brackets:
   • Safely climb to a height where you can see the receiving tabs of the hanger-side brackets.
   • Locate the hinge points on the CPANL. Position the panel so you are holding it with the hinges away from you.
   • Bring the hinge side of the panel up to the receiving tabs on the hanger brackets.
   • Insert both receiving tabs through the slots in the hinge brackets. Slide the hinge brackets up to and then past the locking springs. You will hear an audible "click" as the hinge bracket goes past the locking spring. This prevents the hinge from sliding off the tabs.
   • Gently push the CPANL toward the hinges to fully seat it in the back of the bracket.
   • Rotate the latch side of the fixture up towards the ceiling until you are able to clip both tether cables into place on the front of the hanger bracket.
   • If the tether is sticking out, push it so that it lays on top of the panel.
6. Electrical Connections:
   • Make all electrical connections in the junction box according to local electrical codes.
   • Once electrical connections are safely completed, gently push the CPANL toward the hinges to fully seat it in the back of the bracket and rotate the latch side of the fixture up towards the ceiling.

Installation Tip: Some users have noted that a strain relief part, which protects wires from sharp metal holes, may not be included. If your previous fixture had one, it might be reusable. Ensure wires are protected from sharp edges.

5.1. Switching Color Temperature (CCT)

The fixture features a switchable color temperature (SWW) setting. To change the color temperature (3500K Neutral, 4000K Cool, or 5000K Daylight), you will need to access the switch located inside the fixture. This typically requires unlatching and gently lowering the panel to reach the switch.

5.2. Dimming Functionality

This LED panel supports Triac dimming. To utilize the dimming feature, ensure you have a compatible Triac dimmer switch installed. The fixture will dim linearly and smoothly when paired with the correct dimmer.

6. Maintenance

To maintain the performance and appearance of your LED flat panel, follow these simple guidelines:

• Cleaning: Ensure power is disconnected before cleaning. Use a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth to wipe the surface. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish or optical components.
• No User-Serviceable Parts: The LED components are designed for long life and are not user-replaceable. Do not attempt to open or repair the fixture beyond the instructions provided in this manual.
