4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the laser is turned off and the pendulum lock is engaged.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert a charged Makita 12V max CXT® Lithium-Ion battery (sold separately) into the compartment, ensuring it clicks into place.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Initial Power-On and Self-Leveling

  1. Place the laser on a stable, level surface or mount it using the magnetic bracket or a tripod.
  2. Unlock the pendulum by sliding the lock switch. The laser will automatically begin self-leveling.
  3. Self-leveling line stability is typically achieved within 3 seconds. If the laser is outside its self-leveling range (up to 4 degrees of slope), the laser lines may flash or an indicator may light up. Adjust the laser's position until it self-levels.
  4. Press the power button to turn on the laser lines.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Activating Laser Planes

  • Press the power button once to activate the horizontal laser plane.
  • Press the button again to cycle through vertical planes or activate all three planes simultaneously.
  • The two-button interface allows for easy selection of desired laser configurations.

5.2 Fine Adjustment

The 360° rotating base allows for fine vertical line adjustments. Use the adjustment knob on the base to precisely position the vertical lines while maintaining the plumb point.

5.3 Using with a Laser Detector

For outdoor use or in bright conditions, a Makita Laser Detector (sold separately) can extend the detection range of the laser lines up to 230 feet.
