3. Safety Information
Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before installing or servicing any electrical components. Ensure all wiring is properly insulated and secured to prevent short circuits. Do not mount the amplifier in areas exposed to excessive heat, moisture, or direct sunlight. Consult a professional if you are unsure about any installation steps.
4. Setup & Installation
4.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. If damage is present, contact your dealer immediately.
4.2 Mounting the Amplifier
Choose a mounting location that is dry, well-ventilated, and away from direct heat sources. Ensure there is sufficient space around the amplifier for air circulation. Secure the amplifier firmly using appropriate screws and mounting hardware. The amplifier features mounting tabs on its sides for secure installation.

4.3 Wiring Connections
Refer to the diagram below for proper wiring connections. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

Image: Rear view of the NA-500X4D amplifier, showing the various connection terminals. From left to right, you can see the gain controls for front and rear channels, HI/LO inputs, speaker outputs, and the power/ground/remote terminals. Various wires are connected, illustrating a typical setup.
Power Connections:
- B+ (Power): Connect directly to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery using a fuse (not included) within 18 inches of the battery.
- GND (Ground): Connect to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle's chassis. Ensure a good electrical connection.
- REM (Remote): Connect to the remote turn-on lead from your head unit.
Input Connections:
- HI/LO Input: Connect your head unit's RCA outputs to the amplifier's corresponding RCA inputs (Front L/R, Rear L/R). If using high-level inputs, connect speaker wires from the head unit to the high-level input connector.
Speaker Output Connections:
- Connect your speakers to the amplifier's speaker output terminals. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and – to –).
4.4 Initial Settings
Before powering on, set the gain controls to minimum. Adjust the LPF, HPF, and Bass Boost settings according to your audio system's requirements and speaker specifications. Fine-tune these settings after the system is powered on and playing audio.

Image: Top-down view of the NA-500X4D amplifier. This perspective clearly shows the Nemesis Audio logo on the top panel and the array of control knobs (Gain, LPF, HPF) and input/output ports along the front edge. This is the primary view for understanding the amplifier's controls and overall design.
5. Operating Instructions
Once all connections are made and verified, turn on your head unit. The amplifier should power on automatically via the remote turn-on lead. Gradually increase the volume on your head unit and adjust the amplifier's gain controls to achieve a clear, undistorted sound. Avoid setting the gain too high, as this can lead to distortion and potential damage to your speakers.
5.1 Adjusting Crossover Settings
- LPF (Low Pass Filter): Use this to allow only frequencies below the set point to pass through, typically for subwoofers.
- HPF (High Pass Filter): Use this to allow only frequencies above the set point to pass through, typically for full-range or component speakers.
5.2 Bass Boost Adjustment
The Bass Boost feature allows you to enhance low frequencies. Use this sparingly and adjust to your preference. Excessive bass boost can cause distortion.
6. Maintenance
The Nemesis Audio NA-500X4D amplifier requires minimal maintenance. Keep the unit clean and free from dust and debris. Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they remain secure. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on the amplifier's surface.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power | Blown fuse; loose power/ground/remote wire; faulty head unit remote output. | Check and replace fuse; verify all power connections; test remote wire for 12V. |
| No Sound | Loose RCA cables; incorrect input selection; speaker wires disconnected; amplifier in protect mode. | Check RCA connections; ensure correct input mode; verify speaker wiring; check for overheating or short circuits. |
| Distorted Sound | Gain set too high; improper crossover settings; poor ground connection; damaged speakers. | Reduce gain; adjust LPF/HPF; verify ground connection; inspect speakers. |
| Amplifier Overheats | Insufficient ventilation; impedance too low; prolonged high volume. | Relocate amplifier for better airflow; check speaker impedance; reduce volume. |
