3. Setup

3.1 What's in the Box

Before beginning, ensure all components are present:

3.2 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the camcorder.
  2. Insert the included Lithium Ion battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Connect the camcorder to the AC adaptor using the USB cable.
  4. Plug the AC adaptor into a power outlet. The charging indicator will illuminate.
  5. Charge the battery fully before first use (approximately 2-3 hours).

3.3 Memory Card Installation

  1. Locate the Micro SD card slot on the side of the camcorder.
  2. Insert the included 16GB Micro SD card with the gold contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, gently push the card in until it springs out.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power button (usually marked with ⑂) for a few seconds until the screen illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button again until the device shuts down.

4.2 Basic Recording (Video & Photo)

  • Switching Modes: Use the 'M' (Mode) button to cycle between Video, Photo, and Slow Motion modes. The current mode will be displayed on the 1.3-inch screen.
  • Starting/Stopping Recording (Video): In Video mode, press the central button (often marked with a circle or record icon) to start recording. Press it again to stop.
  • Taking Photos: In Photo mode, press the central button to capture a still image.

4.3 Lens Rotation

The camcorder features a 270° rotating lens head. Gently rotate the lens assembly to adjust your shooting angle without repositioning the entire camera. This is particularly useful for vlogging, low-angle shots, or capturing unique perspectives.

4.4 WiFi Connectivity and App Usage

The MN4KP1 can connect to your smartphone via Wi-Fi for remote control and media management.

  1. Download the dedicated Minolta smartphone app from your device's app store.
  2. On the camcorder, navigate to the Wi-Fi settings and enable Wi-Fi. The camcorder's Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password will be displayed.
  3. On your smartphone, go to Wi-Fi settings and connect to the camcorder's Wi-Fi network.
  4. Open the Minolta app. You can now control recording, preview footage in real-time, and transfer files to your phone.

4.5 Using the Waterproof Case

The included waterproof case allows the camcorder to be used up to 100 feet (30 meters) underwater.

  • Ensure the camcorder is securely placed inside the case.
  • Close all latches firmly to create a watertight seal.
  • Test the case for leaks without the camera inside before first use in water.
  • The case has external buttons that align with the camcorder's controls, allowing operation while submerged.
