Setup

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all items from the aluminum storage case.
  2. Connect Air Control Valve: Attach the air control valve to the airbrush's air inlet. Ensure it is finger-tight.
  3. Attach Quick-Connect Coupler: Connect the quick-connect coupler to your air hose. Then, attach the air control valve (with the airbrush) to the quick-connect coupler.
  4. Install Mini Moisture Filter: For optimal performance and to prevent moisture from reaching your paint, connect the in-line micro moisture filter between your air hose and the quick-connect coupler, or directly to the airbrush's air inlet if preferred.
  5. Select Needle/Nozzle Set: The 0.3mm needle and nozzle set is pre-installed. If you wish to use a different size (0.2mm for finer details or 0.5mm for broader coverage), carefully unscrew the nozzle cap, remove the existing needle and nozzle, and install the desired set. Refer to the maintenance section for detailed disassembly/assembly instructions.
  6. Attach Gravity Cup: Screw the desired gravity feed cup (1/4 oz or 1/16 oz) onto the top of the airbrush. Ensure it is securely fastened to prevent leaks.

Operating

  1. Prepare Paint: Ensure your paint is properly thinned to the consistency recommended for airbrushing. Pour the prepared paint into the gravity feed cup.
  2. Connect Air Supply: Connect your air hose to the quick-connect coupler and turn on your air compressor. Adjust the air pressure to your desired setting (typically between 15-30 PSI, depending on paint and desired effect).
  3. Dual-Action Control:
    • Pressing down on the trigger releases air.
    • Pulling back on the trigger controls the amount of fluid released.
Practice this dual action to achieve smooth transitions between air and paint flow.
  4. Adjust Fluid Control Knob: The preset fluid control knob at the rear of the airbrush allows you to limit how far back the trigger can be pulled, thus controlling the maximum amount of paint flow. This is useful for consistent lines or preventing overspray.
  5. Spray Technique: Maintain a consistent distance from your surface. Move your hand and the airbrush in smooth, even strokes. Release the trigger (air and paint) at the end of each stroke to avoid paint buildup.
  6. Experiment with Tip Sizes:
    • 0.2mm: Ideal for extra-fine details, hair-thin lines, and intricate work.
    • 0.3mm: Versatile for general spraying, medium lines, and shading.
    • 0.5mm: Best for broader coverage, background sprays (up to 2 inches wide), and thicker paints.

Maintenance

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of your airbrush. Clean your airbrush immediately after each use, especially when changing colors or finishing a session.

  1. Basic Cleaning (After Each Use):
    • Empty any remaining paint from the gravity cup.
    • Add a small amount of appropriate cleaning solution (water for acrylics, solvent for enamels/lacquers) to the cup.
    • Spray the cleaning solution through the airbrush until it runs clear. Back-flush by covering the nozzle with a finger and pressing the trigger to bubble air back into the cup, which helps dislodge paint.
    • Wipe the inside of the cup with a cotton swab or paper towel moistened with cleaner. Note: The small diameter of the 1/16 oz cup can be challenging to clean thoroughly; a small brush or cotton swab may be needed.
  2. Deep Cleaning (Periodically or When Clogged):
    • Disassembly: Carefully disassemble the airbrush. This typically involves removing the handle, needle chucking nut, needle, nozzle cap, and nozzle. Refer to the diagram below for component identification.
    • Clean Components: Soak all metal components (nozzle, needle cap, air cap) in an appropriate cleaning solution. Use a soft brush or specialized airbrush cleaning tools to gently remove any dried paint from the nozzle, needle, and airbrush body. Be extremely careful with the needle tip and nozzle, as they are delicate.
    • Trigger Mechanism: If the trigger feels sticky, clean the trigger mechanism and surrounding area with a cotton swab and cleaner. Ensure all moving parts are free of paint residue.
    • Reassembly: Reassemble the airbrush in reverse order. Ensure the needle slides smoothly and the nozzle is securely but gently tightened. Overtightening can damage the nozzle.
  3. Needle and Nozzle Care: Always handle the needle with care to avoid bending the tip. Never force the needle into the airbrush. If the nozzle becomes clogged, do not use metal tools to clear it; soak it in cleaner and use a soft brush or airbrush reamer designed for this purpose.
