3. Parts and Features
Familiarize yourself with the components of your GearLight S500 Headlamp:
- Power Button: Located on top of the headlamp, controls power and mode selection.
- White LEDs: Primary light source for general illumination.
- Red LEDs: Secondary light source for preserving night vision or signaling.
- USB Charging Port: Located at the bottom, covered by a dust cover. Used for recharging the internal battery.
- Elastic Head Strap: Adjustable and comfortable for various head sizes.
- Pivoting Head: Allows the light beam to be directed up or down by 45 degrees.

4. Setup
4.1 Charging the Headlamp
The GearLight S500 Headlamp features a built-in rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery. Before first use, fully charge the headlamp.
- Lift the charging port dust cover located at the bottom of the headlamp.
- Connect the included Micro USB charging cable to the headlamp's charging port.
- Connect the other end of the USB charging cable to a powered USB port (e.g., USB wall adapter, power bank, car charger, PC, or laptop).
- The LED indicator will turn red during charging and green when fully charged.
- Charging typically takes approximately 3 hours for a full charge.
- Close the charging port dust cover firmly to ensure water resistance.
Note: A laptop or computer that is off or in sleep mode may not charge the headlamp.

4.2 Adjusting the Headband
The elastic head strap is adjustable to comfortably fit various head sizes, from adults to children. Simply slide the adjusters on the strap to achieve a snug yet comfortable fit. The strap size can be adjusted from 15 to 50 inches in circumference.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off and Mode Selection
The GearLight S500 features a single power button for easy operation and mode cycling.
- To Turn On: Press the power button once. The headlamp will turn on in the last used white light mode.
- To Cycle White Light Modes: With the white light on, press the power button repeatedly to cycle through: Low → Medium → High → Strobe.
- To Activate Red Light Modes: From any mode (on or off), press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The headlamp will switch to solid red light.
- To Cycle Red Light Modes: With the red light on, press the power button repeatedly to cycle through: Low Red → SOS Red → Strobe Red.
- To Turn Off: From any mode, press the power button until the light turns off. If in a red light mode, a single press will cycle through red modes before turning off. If in a white light mode, a single press will cycle through white modes before turning off.
5.2 Pivoting Head
The headlamp unit can pivot 45 degrees up or down, allowing you to direct the light precisely where needed without adjusting your head position.

6. Maintenance
- When the headlamp is not in use, store it in a cool, dry place away from flammable materials.
- Once every few months, discharge the battery fully and recharge to maintain battery health.
- Clean the headlamp only with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or cleaning solutions, as they may damage the unit.
- The headlamp is water resistant (IPX4 rated), suitable for rain or snow, but should not be submerged in water.

7. Troubleshooting
- If the headlamp does not turn on, or works intermittently:
- Charge the headlamp for 3 hours or until the red LED indicator light turns green.
- Firmly press the power button on and off several times.
- If the headlamp does not charge:
- Inspect the headlamp's charging port for debris, dirt, or corrosion.
- Gently wiggle the USB connections.
- Try a different USB power source.
- Replace the USB charging cable.
- If the headlamp appears dim or faded:
- Charge the headlamp for 3 hours or until the red LED indicator turns green.
- Switch through the different modes to ensure the desired brightness setting is selected.
- If the problem persists:
- Contact GearLight for a replacement.
