5. Setup
5.1 Powering the Device
The siren alarm can be powered using two methods:
- Battery Power: Insert the two included CR123A batteries into the battery compartment. Ensure correct polarity.
- USB Power: Connect a Micro-USB cable (not included) to the device and a 6V, 0.5A USB power adapter (not included).
The device will report low power when the battery voltage drops between 4.5V and 6V.

5.2 Z-Wave Network Inclusion (Pairing)
To integrate the siren alarm into your Z-Wave network:
- Place your Z-Wave controller or gateway into inclusion/pairing mode. Refer to your controller's manual for specific instructions.
- Follow the device-specific instructions (usually a button press sequence) to put the siren alarm into pairing mode.
- Once successfully paired, the siren alarm will appear in your Z-Wave controller's device list.
Important Compatibility Note for SmartThings Users:
- The NEO Z-Wave Plus Siren Alarm is designed to work with SmartThings.
- For access to all advanced features, including customizable chimes, volume, and tone adjustments, the SmartThings Classic app and a custom device handler (DTH) are required.
- The newer SmartThings app and Edge platform may not fully support all advanced features without a compatible DTH, which may no longer be manually addable. The device may function as a basic siren in these newer environments.
- This device is not compatible with Wink, Ring, Iris, or certain alarm panels like Vivint (unless custom actions are configured on the panel, which is not officially supported by NEO).
6. Operating Instructions
Once successfully paired with your Z-Wave gateway, the siren alarm can be controlled and configured through your Z-Wave controller's interface or associated smart home application.
