4. Package Contents

Your package should contain the following items:

  • 1x Mintu Refrigerator Icemaker Assembly
  • (Potentially) Mounting bracket and screw (if not pre-attached or part of the main assembly)

Note: Specific contents may vary slightly. Inspect all components upon arrival.

5. Setup and Installation

Follow these general steps to replace your refrigerator's icemaker. Specific steps may vary slightly depending on your refrigerator model.

  1. Disconnect Power: Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet or turn off the circuit breaker supplying power to the refrigerator.
  2. Access the Icemaker: Open the freezer door. You may need to remove the ice bucket and any shelves or bins that obstruct access to the icemaker.
  3. Disconnect Water Line (if applicable): Some icemakers have a water fill tube that connects directly to the unit. Ensure no water is flowing.
  4. Remove Old Icemaker:
    • Locate the mounting screws or clips holding the old icemaker in place. Typically, there are 2-3 screws.
    • Carefully disconnect the electrical wire harness by pressing the release tab and pulling the connector apart.
    • Remove the screws and carefully slide or unclip the old icemaker from its mounting position.
  5. Prepare New Icemaker:

Ensure the new icemaker matches the old one in terms of mounting points and electrical connector. Transfer any parts from the old icemaker to the new one if necessary (e.g., mounting brackets, wire clips) that are not included with the new unit.

  6. Install New Icemaker:
    • Align the new icemaker with the mounting holes or clips in the freezer.
    • Secure it with the mounting screws. Do not overtighten.
    • Connect the electrical wire harness firmly until it clicks into place.
    • Reconnect the water fill tube if it was disconnected.
  7. Restore Access: Replace any shelves, bins, or the ice bucket that were removed.
  8. Restore Power: Plug the refrigerator back into the wall outlet or turn on the circuit breaker.

6. Operating Instructions

After installation and restoring power, the icemaker will begin its cycle. It may take 12-24 hours for the icemaker to produce its first full batch of ice, and up to 72 hours to reach full production capacity. The first few batches of ice may be smaller or have an unusual taste; it is recommended to discard these initial batches.

  • Ice Production: The icemaker will automatically fill with water, freeze it, and then eject the ice cubes into the ice bucket.
  • Shut-off Arm: The metal shut-off arm (bail arm) controls ice production. When the ice bucket is full, the arm will be pushed up, stopping ice production. Lowering the arm will resume production.
  • Water Filter: Ensure your refrigerator's water filter is not expired for optimal ice quality and production.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the ice bucket with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before returning it to the freezer.
  • Water Quality: Poor water quality can affect ice taste and icemaker performance. Consider using a water filter if your refrigerator does not have one, or replace your existing filter regularly.
  • Inspection: Occasionally inspect the icemaker for any ice buildup around the mold or fill tube, which could impede operation.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Check power connection
  • Ensure water supply is on and line is clear
  • Lower the shut-off arm
  • Set freezer temperature to 0°F (-18°C)
  • Replace water filter
  • Consult a technician
Small or hollow ice cubes
  • Low water pressure
  • Partially clogged water filter
