4. Setup
4.1 Package Contents
Before starting, ensure all items are present:

4.2 Initial Setup and Connection
- Download the Imou Life App: Search for "Imou Life" in your mobile app store (App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android) and download the application.
- Create an Account: Open the Imou Life app and register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
- Power On the Camera: Connect the camera to a power outlet using the provided power adapter. The indicator light on the camera will turn green when it's ready for setup.
- Add Device: In the Imou Life app, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a new device. Scan the QR code located on the bottom of the camera.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: Follow the on-screen prompts in the app to connect the camera to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Note: The camera does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi networks.
- Complete Setup: Once connected, the camera's indicator light will turn solid green. You can now name your camera and begin using it.
4.3 Mounting the Camera
The camera can be placed on a flat surface or mounted to a wall or ceiling.
- Choose a Location: Select a location that provides the desired viewing angle and is within range of your Wi-Fi network and a power outlet.
- Prepare the Surface: For wall or ceiling mounting, use the mounting plate as a template to mark the drill holes. Drill holes and insert wall plugs if necessary.
- Secure the Mounting Plate: Attach the mounting plate to the wall/ceiling using the provided screws.
- Attach the Camera: Align the camera with the mounting plate and twist it to lock it into place.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Live View and Pan/Tilt Control
- Open the Imou Life app and select your camera from the device list.
- Use the on-screen joystick or swipe gestures to control the camera's pan (horizontal) and tilt (vertical) movements.
5.2 Two-Way Audio
- While in live view, tap the microphone icon to enable two-way audio.
- Speak into your phone's microphone to transmit your voice through the camera's speaker.
- Tap the microphone icon again to disable two-way audio.
5.3 Recording and Playback
- Manual Recording: Tap the record icon in live view to start/stop manual recording. Recordings are saved to your phone or the inserted Micro SD card.
- Event Recording: The camera automatically records when motion or sound is detected (if enabled).
- Playback: Access recorded footage via the "Playback" or "Event" section in the Imou Life app. You can filter by date and event type.
5.4 Privacy Mode
- To activate Privacy Mode, navigate to the camera settings in the Imou Life app.
- Toggle the "Privacy Mode" option. The camera lens will physically retract, ensuring no video is recorded or streamed.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and body. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install firmware updates via the Imou Life app to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Micro SD Card Management: If using a Micro SD card, periodically back up important footage and format the card to maintain performance.
