Setup and Installation

Tools Required: Adjustable wrench, Phillips screwdriver, plumber's putty or silicone sealant, basin wrench (optional).

Step 1: Prepare the Sink Area

  1. Turn off the hot and cold water supply valves under the sink. If no shut-off valves are present, turn off the main water supply to your home.
  2. Remove the old faucet and clean the sink surface thoroughly.

Step 2: Install the Faucet

  1. If using the deck plate for a 3-hole sink, apply a thin bead of plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the underside edge of the deck plate and position it on the sink.
  2. Insert the faucet body through the hole(s) in the sink/deck plate. Ensure the faucet is oriented correctly.
  3. From underneath the sink, secure the faucet using the provided mounting washer and nut. Hand-tighten first, then use a basin wrench or adjustable wrench to tighten securely, but do not overtighten.

Step 3: Connect Water Supply Lines

  1. Connect the pre-attached hot and cold supply lines from the faucet to your water supply valves. The hot water line is typically on the left, and the cold water line on the right.
  2. Tighten connections with an adjustable wrench. Do not overtighten.

Step 4: Install the Drain Assembly

  1. Apply plumber's putty or silicone sealant to the underside of the drain flange and insert it into the sink drain hole.
  2. From underneath, attach the rubber washer, friction washer, and mounting nut to the drain body. Tighten securely.
  3. Connect the P-trap to the drain assembly.

Step 5: Test for Leaks

  1. Slowly turn on the hot and cold water supply valves.
  2. Check all connections for leaks. If leaks are present, tighten the connections slightly until the leak stops.
  3. Remove the aerator from the faucet spout and turn on the water to flush out any debris from the lines. Run water for a few minutes, then turn off the faucet and reattach the aerator.

Operating Instructions

The Moen GENTA faucet features a single handle for controlling both water temperature and flow.

  • To Turn On/Off: Lift the handle upwards to turn on the water. Push the handle downwards to turn off the water.
  • To Adjust Flow: The further the handle is lifted, the greater the water flow.
  • To Adjust Temperature: Move the handle to the left for hot water and to the right for cold water. The center position provides a mix of hot and cold water.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will help preserve the finish and functionality of your Moen faucet.

  • Cleaning the Finish: Clean the faucet with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the matte black finish.
  • Aerator Maintenance: If water flow decreases or becomes irregular, the aerator may be clogged. Unscrew the aerator from the spout, clean any debris or mineral deposits, and rinse thoroughly before reattaching.
  • Drain Cleaning: Periodically clean the drain assembly to prevent clogs. Remove the stopper and clear any hair or debris.
