5. Setup and Installation

The SVP-916 is designed for easy installation on a standard DIN rail. Follow these steps for proper setup:

  1. Power Disconnection: Ensure all power to the circuit where the protector will be installed is completely disconnected at the main breaker.
  2. Mounting: Clip the SVP-916 onto a standard 35mm DIN rail. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  3. Wiring: Connect the incoming power supply to the "IN" terminals (L for Live, N for Neutral) and the protected load to the "OUT" terminals (L for Live, N for Neutral). Refer to the wiring diagram below.
  4. Verification: Double-check all connections for tightness and correct polarity before restoring power.

Warning: Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the device, connected equipment, or pose a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about the wiring process.

6. Operating Instructions

Once installed and powered on, the SVP-916 will display the current voltage. You can adjust various protection parameters using the control buttons.

6.1. Power-On and Display

Upon power-on, the device will perform a self-test and then display the real-time input voltage. The indicators (OV, UV, OC, ADJ) will light up to show the current status or mode.

6.2. Parameter Setting

To enter the setting mode, press and hold the SET button for approximately 3 seconds. The display will show the first adjustable parameter. Use the ▲ (Up) and ▼ (Down) buttons to adjust the value. Press SET again to confirm the value and move to the next parameter. Repeat until all desired parameters are set. If no button is pressed for a few seconds, the device will automatically exit the setting mode and save changes.

Adjustable Parameters:

  • Overvoltage Protection Value (OV): Set the maximum allowable voltage. If the voltage exceeds this value, the protector will trip.
  • Overvoltage Recovery Value: Set the voltage level at which the protector will automatically reset after an overvoltage event.
  • Overvoltage Action Time: Configure the delay before the protector trips after detecting an overvoltage.
  • Undervoltage Protection Value (UV): Set the minimum allowable voltage. If the voltage drops below this value, the protector will trip.
  • Undervoltage Recovery Value: Set the voltage level at which the protector will automatically reset after an undervoltage event.
  • Undervoltage Action Time: Configure the delay before the protector trips after detecting an undervoltage.
  • Fault Recovery Delay Time: Set the delay before the device attempts to restore power after a protection event.
  • Power-On Delay Time: Set the delay before power is supplied to the load after the device is powered on.
  • Reset Mode Selection: Choose between automatic or manual reset after a protection event.

6.3. Fault Query

To view past fault records, briefly press the SET button (do not hold). The display will cycle through fault codes or indicators. Refer to the troubleshooting section for interpretation.

6.4. Factory Reset

To restore the device to its default factory settings, consult the specific procedure in the troubleshooting section or the full product manual if available. This typically involves a combination of button presses.

7. Maintenance

The Walfront SVP-916 is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  • Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Connection Checks: Periodically inspect wiring connections to ensure they remain tight and free from corrosion. Loose connections can lead to overheating or intermittent operation.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SVP-916, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Device does not power on.No power supply; incorrect wiring.Check main power supply. Verify wiring connections according to Figure 5.1.
Device trips frequently.Protection parameters set too sensitively; unstable power supply.Adjust OV/UV protection values to be less sensitive. Consult an electrician to check power quality.
Display shows "OV" or "UV" constantly.Actual voltage is outside set limits.Check the input voltage with a multimeter. Adjust protection limits if necessary, or address power supply issues.
Cannot enter setting mode.SET button not held long enough.Press and hold the SET button for at least 3 seconds.
Device does not reset after fault.Manual reset mode selected; fault condition still present. If in manual reset mode, press the SET button to reset. Ensure the voltage has returned to within safe operating parameters.

Factory Reset Procedure:

If the device is behaving unexpectedly and troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, a factory reset may be necessary. To perform a factory reset:

  1. Ensure the device is powered on.
  2. Press and hold both the ▲ (Up) and ▼ (Down) buttons simultaneously for approximately 5-7 seconds until the display indicates a reset (e.g., "RST" or flashing segments).
  3. Release the buttons. The device will restart with default settings.

Note: Performing a factory reset will erase all custom settings. You will need to reconfigure your desired protection parameters after the reset.
