Operating Instructions
1. Dry Vacuuming
- Ensure the cartridge filter is clean and properly installed. A disposable dust bag can also be used for easier debris disposal.
- Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. The unit features a 10 ft. power cord.
- Turn the vacuum on using the large, water-resistant on/off switch.
- Guide the appropriate nozzle over the dry debris to be collected.
- When finished, turn off the vacuum and unplug it.

2. Wet Vacuuming
- Remove the cartridge filter and any disposable dust bag before wet vacuuming. Operating the vacuum with a dry filter during wet pickup can damage the filter and motor.
- Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
- Turn the vacuum on.
- Guide the appropriate nozzle over the liquid to be collected. The vacuum is equipped with buoy technology that will automatically shut off suction when the tank is full to prevent overflow.
- When the tank is full, the motor sound will increase, and suction will stop. Turn off the vacuum and unplug it immediately.
- Empty the tank using the large built-in tank drain.

3. Blower Function
- Locate the blower port on the power head.
- Insert the flexible hose into the blower port.
- Turn the vacuum on. The unit will now function as a blower, suitable for clearing sawdust or light debris from work areas.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your DEWALT DXV05S wet/dry vac.
1. Emptying the Tank
- For dry debris, release the lid latches, remove the power head, and carefully lift out the disposable dust bag (if used) or invert the tank to empty.
- For liquids, use the large built-in tank drain located at the bottom of the tank. Position the vacuum over a suitable drain or container, remove the drain cap, and allow liquids to flow out.
2. Filter Care
- Cartridge Filter: For dry use, clean the cartridge filter regularly by gently tapping it to dislodge dust or by rinsing it with water. Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinstallation. Do not use a wet filter for dry vacuuming.
- Disposable Dust Bag: Replace the disposable dust bag when full or when suction power decreases significantly.
3. General Cleaning and Storage
- Wipe down the exterior of the vacuum and accessories with a damp cloth.
- Ensure the tank, hose, and accessories are clean and dry before storing.
- Wrap the 10 ft. power cord around the integrated cord wrap for neat storage.
- Store the vacuum and accessories in a dry, protected area.
