Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

• Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
• Oversize foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in a toaster as they may create a fire or risk of electric shock.
• A fire may occur if toasters are covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation.
• Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
• Be sure to unplug bread from outlet after each use.
• To reduce the risk of fire, clean out crumb trays regularly.

Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the toaster and all packaging materials. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
2. Placement: Place the toaster on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials like curtains or walls. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
3. Initial Use (Burn-off): Before first use, operate the toaster without bread for a few cycles at a medium setting (e.g., setting 3 or 4) to burn off any manufacturing residues. A slight odor or smoke is normal during this process. Ensure the area is well-ventilated.
4. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Basic Toasting:

1. Insert slices of bread into the toaster slots. The extra-wide slots accommodate various bread sizes.
2. Select your desired browning level using the browning control dial (settings 1-6). Setting 1 is the lightest, and 6 is the darkest. The LED display will show the selected setting and estimated time.

3. Press down the toast lever until it locks into place. The toaster will begin toasting, and the LED display will show a countdown timer.

4. Once the toasting cycle is complete, the toast will automatically pop up. Use the extra-high lift lever to safely retrieve smaller items.

Special Functions:

• CANCEL: Press the CANCEL button at any time to stop the toasting process and immediately eject the bread. The blue light will illuminate when active.

• BAGEL: Ideal for bagels and English muffins. This function toasts the cut side while gently warming the other side. Press the BAGEL button after lowering the toast lever. The blue light will illuminate when active.

• DEFROST: For toasting frozen bread. This function adds extra time to the toasting cycle to thaw and then toast the bread. Press the DEFROST button after lowering the toast lever. The blue light will illuminate when active.

Using Dual Control Panels:

The CUSIMAX 4 Slice Toaster features two independent control panels, allowing you to toast different items or at different browning levels simultaneously. Each side (two slots) has its own set of controls (lever, browning dial, and function buttons).

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your toaster.

1. Always Unplug: Before cleaning, ensure the toaster is unplugged from the power outlet and completely cooled down.
2. Crumb Tray Cleaning: Pull out the removable crumb trays located at the bottom of the toaster. Discard crumbs and wipe the trays clean with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly before reinserting. Clean regularly to prevent fire hazards.

3. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use a mild non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use abrasive pads or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
4. Interior Cleaning: Do not attempt to clean the inside of the toaster with sharp objects or abrasive materials. If food becomes lodged, unplug the toaster and carefully remove it.
5. Cord Storage: The power cord can be wrapped around the base for neat storage when not in use.
