1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Information

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

4. Setup

1. Unpack: Carefully remove the toaster and all packaging materials. Ensure all accessories are present and the toaster is free from damage.
2. Placement: Place the toaster on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from curtains, walls, or any flammable materials. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
3. First Use (Burn-Off Cycle): Before toasting food for the first time, operate the toaster empty for one cycle at the highest browning setting (6). This will burn off any manufacturing residues and odors. It is normal for a slight odor or smoke to be present during this initial use. Ensure the area is well-ventilated.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Toasting

1. Plug the toaster into a standard electrical outlet.
2. Place up to two slices of bread into the toaster slots.
3. Select your desired browning level using the browning control dial (settings 1-6). The LED display will show the selected setting and a countdown timer.
4. Press the toast lever down until it locks into place. The toasting cycle will begin, and the LED display will count down.
5. Once the cycle is complete, the toast will automatically pop up.

5.2 Special Functions

Your CUSIMAX toaster includes three special functions for versatile toasting:

• CANCEL: To stop the toasting cycle at any time, press the CANCEL button. The toast will immediately pop up. The blue indicator light will turn off.
• BAGEL: This function toasts the cut side of bagels while gently warming the other side. Insert the bagel with the cut side facing inwards towards the center of the toaster. Select your desired browning level, then press the BAGEL button. The blue indicator light will illuminate. Press the toast lever down to start.
• DEFROST: Use this function to toast frozen bread. Place frozen bread into the slots, select your desired browning level, then press the DEFROST button. The blue indicator light will illuminate. Press the toast lever down to start.

5.3 Using the High-Lift Lever

After the toasting cycle is complete and the toast has popped up, you can manually pull the toast lever upwards to further elevate smaller items like English muffins or small pastries. This 'extra-high lift' feature helps prevent burning your fingers when retrieving food.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Crumb Tray

1. Ensure the toaster is unplugged and completely cool.
2. Pull out the removable crumb tray located at the bottom rear of the toaster.
3. Empty the crumbs into a waste bin.
4. Wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth, if necessary. Ensure it is completely dry before reinserting.
5. Slide the crumb tray back into its position until it clicks securely.

6.2 Exterior Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as these can scratch the stainless steel finish.

6.3 Interior Cleaning

Never insert metal objects or utensils into the toaster slots to clean the interior. If food becomes lodged, unplug the toaster and allow it to cool completely before carefully dislodging the food. Invert the toaster over a sink to shake out any loose crumbs.
