Safety Information

  • Electrical Hazard: Installation requires working with high voltage wiring. Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before installation. If you are unsure about any part of the installation, consult a qualified electrician.
  • Neutral Wire Required: This smart dimmer switch requires a neutral wire for proper operation. Verify your electrical box has a neutral wire before attempting installation.
  • Single Pole Only: This switch is designed for single-pole setups only and is not compatible with 3-way switch configurations.
  • Dimmable Bulbs: Ensure that the bulbs connected to this switch are dimmable. It supports up to 150W for dimmable LED bulbs and 500W for incandescent bulbs. It does not support CFL bulbs.
  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Network: The switch requires a secured 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network connection for smart features. It does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Do not install with wet hands or when standing on wet or damp surfaces.
  • Use only indoors.

Installation Guide

1. Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Confirm you have a neutral wire in your wall box.
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz.
  • Verify that the bulbs you intend to use are dimmable.
  • Gather necessary tools: screwdriver, wire strippers, voltage tester.

2. Wiring Instructions

  1. Turn Off Power: Locate your circuit breaker and turn off the power to the switch you are replacing. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the existing switch from the wall box. Disconnect the wires.
  3. Identify Wires: Identify the Line (Live), Load, Neutral, and Ground wires from your wall box.

  4. Connect New Switch: Connect the wires from your wall box to the corresponding terminals on the Lesim Smart Dimmer Switch using the provided wire nuts.
    • Connect the Red wire from the switch to the Load wire.
    • Connect the Green wire from the switch to the Ground wire.
    • Connect the Black wire from the switch to the Line wire.
    • Connect the White wire from the switch to the Neutral wire.
  5. Mount Switch: Gently push the wired switch into the wall box and secure it with screws. Attach the wall plate.
  6. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker. The Wi-Fi indicator on the switch should begin blinking.

3. App Setup and Pairing

To enable smart features, download the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app and pair your device.

  1. Download App: Search for "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" in your mobile app store (iOS or Android) and download the application.
  2. Register/Login: Open the app and register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Add Device: Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner of the app to add a new device. Select "Switch (Wi-Fi)" from the device list.
  4. Connect to Wi-Fi: Enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network name and password. Ensure your phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz network.
  5. Initiate Pairing Mode:
    • Fast Blinking Mode (EZ Mode): Hold the switch's ON/OFF button for 5 seconds until the indicator blinks rapidly. This is the default pairing mode.
    • Slow Blinking Mode (AP Mode): If EZ mode fails, press the ON/OFF button again for 7-10 seconds until the Wi-Fi indicator blinks slowly. This mode creates a local Wi-Fi hotspot for direct connection.
  6. Confirm Indicator Status: In the app, confirm that the indicator light on your switch is blinking rapidly or slowly, matching your chosen pairing mode.
  7. Complete Pairing: Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to complete the pairing process. Once successful, the Wi-Fi indicator on the switch will turn solid blue.

Operating Instructions

1. Manual Control

  • Turn On/Off: Press the main ON/OFF button (circular button in the middle) to toggle the light on or off.
  • Adjust Brightness: Use the "Brightness +" and "Brightness -" buttons to increase or decrease the light intensity. The brightness level indicator will show the current setting.

2. Voice Control (Alexa & Google Assistant)

Once paired with the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app, you can link your account to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice commands.

  • Enable Skill: In the Alexa or Google Home app, search for and enable the "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" skill/action.
  • Link Account: Link your Smart Life/Tuya Smart account to your voice assistant.
  • Discover Devices: Ask your voice assistant to discover new devices.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Lesim Smart Dimmer Switch, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Cannot connect to Wi-Fi / Wi-Fi indicator not blinking.
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. The switch does not support 5 GHz.
  • Make sure your phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network during pairing.
  • To enter fast blinking mode (EZ Mode), hold the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds.
  • To enter slow blinking mode (AP Mode), hold the ON/OFF button for 7-10 seconds.
  • If the Wi-Fi indicator is very faint, try observing it in a darker environment.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router and try pairing again.
Voice control not working.
  • Ensure the Smart Life/Tuya Smart skill/action is enabled in your Alexa/Google Home app.
  • Verify your Smart Life/Tuya Smart account is correctly linked to your voice assistant.
  • Ask your voice assistant to "discover devices" again.
  • Check your internet connection.
Dimming function not working correctly.
  • Confirm that the connected bulbs are specifically designed for dimming. Non-dimmable bulbs may flicker or not dim properly.
  • Ensure the total wattage of connected bulbs does not exceed the switch's maximum capacity (150W LED / 500W Incandescent).
Switch frequently loses Wi-Fi connection.
  • Ensure the switch is within range of your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router.
  • Reduce interference from other electronic devices.
  • Consider repositioning your Wi-Fi router or using a Wi-Fi extender.
  • Update the switch's firmware via the app if an update is available.
