6. Operating Instructions

This battery is designed for seamless integration with your compatible Sokkia device. Its operation is primarily managed by the device itself.

6.1 Charging the Battery:

  • Always use the original charger or a compatible charger specifically designed for your Sokkia device and this battery model.
  • Connect the charger to your device and a power source. The device's charging indicator will typically show the charging status.
  • Allow the battery to charge fully before disconnecting. Overcharging is prevented by the battery's built-in protection circuits.

6.2 Battery Usage:

  • The battery will power your device as long as it has sufficient charge.
  • If your device's operating time significantly reduces, it indicates the battery needs recharging or replacement.
  • This battery features no memory effect, allowing you to charge it at any time without affecting its long-term capacity.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance extends the life of your battery and ensures optimal performance.

  • Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry place (ideally between 0°C and 25°C or 32°F and 77°F) with approximately 50% charge. Avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Cleaning: Keep the battery contacts clean and free of dust or debris. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe them if necessary.
  • Avoid Full Discharge: While the battery has protection, try to avoid completely draining the battery before recharging, as this can reduce overall lifespan over time.
  • Regular Use: For best results, use and recharge the battery regularly.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your battery, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Battery not charging. Incorrect charger, poor connection, faulty charger/device. Ensure charger is compatible and properly connected. Try charging with another known good charger or device if available. Clean battery contacts.
Device not powering on with new battery. Battery not fully charged, incorrect installation, battery fault. Ensure battery is fully charged. Re-install battery, checking orientation and secure fit. Verify device compatibility.
Battery drains quickly. High power consumption by device, battery nearing end of life. Reduce device power consumption (e.g., screen brightness). If the battery is old, it may need replacement.
Battery feels hot during use/charging. Normal operation (slight warmth), overcharging, internal fault. Slight warmth is normal. If excessively hot, disconnect immediately and contact support. Ensure proper ventilation during charging.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact customer support.

9. Safety Information

Your safety is paramount. Please adhere to the following safety guidelines when handling and using the battery.

  • Do not disassemble: Do not attempt to disassemble, open, or service the battery pack. This can lead to electric shock, fire, or explosion.
  • Avoid short circuits: Do not short-circuit the battery terminals. Avoid contact with metal objects that could bridge the terminals.
  • Temperature: Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures (above 40°C/105°F or below 0°C/32°F). Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources, or very cold environments.
  • Disposal: Do not dispose of the battery in fire or water. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations for lithium-ion batteries.
  • Impact: Do not drop, puncture, or subject the battery to strong impacts.
  • Moisture: Keep the battery dry. Do not expose it to water or other liquids.
  • Children: Keep batteries out of reach of children.
