  • Easy Filter Replacement: Filters can be replaced in seconds with a simple push-and-turn mechanism.

2. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure you have all necessary parts and tools. The system is designed for cold water use only and should be kept away from heat sources.

Parts List:

The package includes the RO system unit, PPC filter, RO filter, smart faucet, 3/8" blue inlet water tubing with feed water adapter, 1/4" white pure water tubing, 1/4" red wastewater tubing, drain saddle, tube cutter, Teflon tape, quick connect fitting, quick connect release tool, two adapters (for 1/2" FIP inlet valves), six lock clips, and a power adapter.

Required Tools:

  • Variable speed drill
  • Drill bits (1/4" for waste line, 1" for faucet)
  • Towel
  • Adjustable wrench or pliers
  • Screwdriver
  • Flashlight

Installation Steps:

  1. Choose Installation Location: Select a suitable position under your kitchen sink, ensuring it is away from walls or heat sources. The system is intended for cold water only.
  2. Check Water Inlet Valve: Determine the size of your cold water inlet valve (typically 1/2" FIP or 3/8" OD). Use the provided adapters if your valve is 1/2" FIP.
  3. Install Feed Water Adapter: Close the cold water inlet valve and turn on your main faucet to release pressure. Place a towel under the inlet valve to catch any drips. Disconnect the faucet hose from the inlet valve. Connect the feed water adapter (with gasket) to the water inlet valve and tighten with a wrench. Reconnect the faucet hose to the feed water adapter.
  4. Install Drain Saddle: Find a convenient, vertical spot on the drainpipe to install the drain saddle. Drill a 1/4" hole through one side of the pipe (do not drill through both sides). Stick the foam seal onto the front plate of the drain saddle, insert the red wastewater tubing about 0.6" into the hole, then insert it into the drilled hole. Secure the front plate to the back plate by tightening the screws. Pop a lock clip onto the fitting to secure the connection.
  5. Install RO Faucet: Drill a 1.02" hole in the cabinet countertop or sink for the faucet installation. If a suitable hole exists, this step can be skipped. Insert the faucet stem and power cord into the hole. Place the mounting washer and nut onto the faucet stem from underneath the sink and tighten.
  6. Connect Tubing: The system uses a color-coded connection system for ease of installation: White to White, Blue to Blue, Red to Red. Ensure each tube is fully inserted and secured with a lock clip.
    • Inlet Water Tubing: Insert the blue 3/8" inlet water tubing (attached to the feed water adapter) into the "Inlet Water" port on the system and connect the lock clip.
    • Waste Water Tubing: Insert the red 1/4" wastewater tubing (attached to the drain saddle) into the "Waste Water" port on the system and connect the lock clip.
    • Pure Water Tubing: Insert the white 1/4" pure water tubing (from the RO faucet) into the "Pure Water" port on the system and connect the lock clip.
  7. Connect Power: Insert the DC head of the power adapter into the "Power" port at the top of the housing. Do not connect to a power socket yet.
  8. Install Filters: Remove the RO system cover. Align the button on top of each filter horizontally with the notch on the appliance and push the filter into the hole carefully. The PPC filter goes into the top slot, and the RO filter goes into the bottom slot. Replace the cover.
  9. Start Up the System: After confirming all connections are secure and leak-free, turn on the cold water supply valve and the feed water adapter. Turn off your main faucet and turn on the RO faucet. Plug in the power adapter. The system lights will flash alternately for 30 seconds and begin a rinse cycle. Keep the RO faucet running for at least 30 minutes to flush the tubing and membrane and remove any air. After 30 minutes, an alarm will sound. Turn off the power, then turn it on again to reset the system for normal use.

Filter Life Indicator:

The RO system unit has indicator lights for filter life:

  • If the filter is working correctly, the indicator light will remain white.
  • When a filter is nearing its expiration date, its indicator light will alternately flash red and white.
  • If a filter has failed or expired, its indicator light will remain red and beep 10 times continuously during water production.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance, particularly filter replacement, is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your ICEPURE RO system.

Filter Replacement:

The ICEPURE UTR400A system features a convenient one-touch filter replacement design, allowing you to change filters in seconds without tools.

  1. Close the "Feed Water Adapter" to stop water flow to the system.
  2. Remove the RO system cover.
  3. Lift the handle on top of the filter you wish to replace, or directly press the button on the RO system, then pull out the filter.
  4. Open the package of the new filter. Align the button on top of the new filter horizontally to the notch on the appliance and push the filter into the hole carefully until it clicks into place.
  5. Close the RO system cover.
  6. Turn on the "Feed Water Adapter" and then turn on the RO faucet. Keep the RO faucet open and let the RO system run for about 30 minutes, flushing the tubing and membrane and removing any air that is in the system.

Resetting Filter Life Indicator:

After replacing a filter, you must reset its life indicator:

  1. Hold the "Reset" button on the system for 3 seconds to enter the reset mode.
  2. Press the "Reset" button repeatedly to select which filter you want to reset (the corresponding filter light will flash).
  3. Hold the "Reset" button for 3 seconds. The life of the selected filter will be reset (indicated by an alarm sound).

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your ICEPURE UTR400A system, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Water Leakage: If you observe any leaks after installation, reconfirm each connection point (filtration system's connect ports, feed water adapter, quick-connect fittings). If the feed water adapter is leaking, tighten it with an adjustable wrench. If it continues to leak, apply Teflon tape to the external threads. If any quick-connect fitting is leaking, remove the lock clip and pipe, then reinsert them securely.
  • No Water Flow: Ensure the cold water supply valve and feed water adapter are fully open. Check that the power adapter is securely plugged in and the system is powered on.
  • Slow Water Flow: This may indicate a clogged filter. Check the filter life indicators on the system and smart faucet. Replace filters if they are near or past their expiration date.
  • Unusual Taste/Odor: This typically indicates that filters need to be replaced. Perform a filter replacement and flush the system.
  • TDS Reading is High: A high TDS reading on the smart faucet indicates that the RO membrane may need replacement or the system is not functioning optimally. Ensure filters are not expired.
