2. Product Overview

The CT-S1 combines timeless style with advanced sound technology, making it suitable for various musical environments. Key features include:

3. Setup

3.1 Powering the Instrument

The CT-S1 can be powered in two ways:

  • AC Adapter: Connect the included AC adapter to the DC 9.5V jack on the rear panel and plug it into a standard wall outlet.
  • Batteries: For portable use, insert six (6) AA-size alkaline batteries into the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard. Ensure correct polarity.

3.2 Attaching the Music Rest

The included music rest can be inserted into the slot on the top panel of the keyboard to hold sheet music or a tablet.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

To turn on the CT-S1, press and hold the [POWER] button until the display illuminates. To turn off, press and hold the [POWER] button again until the display turns off.

4.2 Adjusting Volume

Use the [VOLUME] knob to adjust the overall output level of the keyboard. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.

4.3 Selecting Tones

The CT-S1 features 61 high-quality AiX Tones. Use the [TONE] button and the data entry dial to browse and select different instrument sounds, such as Stereo Grand Piano, Electric Pianos, Organs, and Synths. You can also access Casio Classic Tones.

4.4 Applying Effects

Enhance your sound with built-in effects:

  • Reverb: Choose from 24 types to add spaciousness to your sound.
  • Chorus & Delay: Apply these effects to add depth and movement.

4.5 Tone Layering

Combine two different tones to create richer, more complex sounds. Instructions for tone layering can be found in the full user manual.

4.6 MIDI Recorder

The one-button MIDI recorder allows you to capture your performances with up to 40,000 notes of memory. This is useful for practicing and composing.

5. Connectivity

The CT-S1 offers various connectivity options:

  • USB-MIDI: Connect the keyboard to your computer (Mac/PC) or smart device (iOS/Android) using a USB cable for MIDI data transfer. This enables use with music software and apps like CASIO MUSIC SPACE.
  • Headphones Jack: A 3.5mm stereo mini jack allows for private practice.
  • Optional Bluetooth: With the optional WU-BT10 Bluetooth MIDI/audio adapter, you can connect wirelessly to use the CT-S1 as a Bluetooth speaker or for app integration.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your CT-S1:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the keyboard with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the instrument in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
  • Handling: Handle with care to prevent damage to keys or internal components.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your CT-S1, try the following:

  • No Power: Ensure the AC adapter is securely connected or that batteries are correctly inserted and not depleted.
  • No Sound: Check the volume level. Ensure headphones are not plugged in if you intend to use the speakers. Verify that a tone is selected.
  • Keys Not Responding: Restart the instrument. If the issue persists, consult the full user manual or Casio support.
