4. Setup
Before using your espresso machine for the first time, follow these steps:
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present.
- Initial Cleaning: Wash the water tank, portafilter, filter baskets, and drip tray with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
- Positioning: Place the machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from water sources and heat.
- Fill Water Tank: Remove the water tank, fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level indicator, and place it back securely.
- First Use Cycle (Priming):
- Ensure the water tank is filled.
- Place a cup under the portafilter (without coffee).
- Plug in the machine and press the power button. The power indicator light will illuminate.
- Once the ready indicator light illuminates, turn the control knob to the coffee brewing position. Allow water to flow through for approximately 30 seconds.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Preparing Espresso
- Preheat: Ensure the machine is powered on and the ready indicator light is illuminated. For best results, run a cycle of hot water through the portafilter and cup to preheat them.
- Prepare Coffee Grounds: Use freshly ground espresso coffee. For a single shot, use the 1-cup filter; for a double shot, use the 2-cup filter. Fill the filter basket with ground coffee.
- Tamp Coffee: Lightly tamp the coffee grounds evenly with a tamper (not included) to create a compact puck. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim of the filter basket.
- Attach Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the brewing head, aligning it with the 'INSERT' mark, then rotate it firmly to the right until it locks into the 'LOCK' position.
- Place Cup(s): Position one or two espresso cups on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
- Brew Espresso: Turn the control knob to the coffee brewing position. Espresso will begin to flow into your cup(s).
- Stop Brewing: Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed (typically 25-30ml for a single shot, 50-60ml for a double shot), turn the control knob back to the 'off' position.
- Remove Portafilter: Carefully rotate the portafilter to the left to unlock and remove it. Dispose of the used coffee grounds.
5.2. Frothing Milk
Use the steam wand to create frothed milk for lattes and cappuccinos.
- Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Activate Steam: Turn the control knob to the steam position. The machine will heat up to steam temperature. Wait for the steam ready indicator light to illuminate.
- Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam valve by turning the control knob to the steam position to release any condensed water. Close it immediately.
- Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Turn the control knob to the steam position. Angle the pitcher slightly to create a swirling motion.
- Monitor Temperature: Continue frothing until the milk reaches the desired temperature and texture. The pitcher will become hot to the touch.
- Stop Steaming: Turn the control knob back to the 'off' position to stop the steam.
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly purge the steam wand again to clear any internal blockages.
6. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.
6.1. Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water.
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the detachable drip tray daily or when the indicator shows it is full.
- Steam Wand: Always wipe the steam wand immediately after frothing milk and purge it briefly to prevent milk residue from drying inside.
- Water Tank: Empty and rinse the water tank daily. Refill with fresh water for each use.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
6.2. Descaling
Mineral deposits from water can build up in the machine over time, affecting performance. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-3 months).
- Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for coffee machines, following the manufacturer's instructions.
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution and water mixture.
- Run several brewing cycles without coffee until the water tank is empty.
- Run several cycles of fresh water through the machine to rinse thoroughly.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No coffee flow | Water tank empty; coffee too finely ground or tamped too hard; machine clogged. | Fill water tank; use coarser grind or lighter tamp; descale machine. |
| Coffee brews too quickly | Coffee too coarsely ground or not tamped enough. | Use finer grind; tamp coffee more firmly. |
| Coffee is not hot enough | Cups not preheated; machine not fully heated. | Preheat cups and portafilter; wait for the ready indicator light to illuminate. |
| Steam wand not producing steam | Steam wand clogged; machine not at steam temperature. | Clean steam wand nozzle; wait for steam ready indicator light. |
| Water leaking from machine | Water tank not seated correctly; drip tray full; seal issues. | Ensure water tank is properly seated; empty drip tray; contact support if issue persists. |
