Figure 4.2: The motion sensor highlighting its key features: a 180-degree detection angle for wide coverage and an IP44 rating, confirming its protection against splashing water, making it suitable for outdoor use.

Figure 4.3: This image illustrates the physical dimensions of the motion sensor, showing a height of 138 mm and a width of 71 mm, providing a clear understanding of its compact size for installation planning.
5. Installation
Before installation, ensure the power supply is disconnected. Choose a suitable mounting location that provides the desired detection coverage and is protected from direct heavy weather conditions, even with its IP44 rating.
5.1 Mounting Location Considerations
- Avoid mounting near heat sources (e.g., vents, direct sunlight) or objects that can cause rapid temperature changes, as this may lead to false triggers.
- Ensure the sensor is not obstructed by walls, trees, or other objects that could block its detection field.
- For optimal detection, mount the sensor at a height of approximately 1.8 to 2.5 meters.
5.2 Wall Mounting
- Mark the drilling points on the wall using the sensor's mounting plate as a template.
- Drill holes and insert wall plugs.
- Secure the mounting plate to the wall with screws.
- Connect the wiring as described in Section 6.
- Attach the sensor unit to the mounting plate.
5.3 Corner Mounting
The included corner mounting adapter allows for flexible installation on external or internal corners.
- Attach the corner mounting adapter to the desired corner using appropriate screws.
- Then, mount the sensor onto the adapter as you would for a flat wall surface.

Figure 5.1: Installation diagrams illustrating both flat wall mounting and the use of the included adapter for corner mounting, demonstrating how the 180-degree detection angle covers the area effectively from different positions.
6. Wiring Diagram
WARNING: All electrical wiring must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Ensure the main power supply is switched off before commencing any wiring work.
The motion sensor typically requires a live (L), neutral (N), and switched live (L') connection to the light fixture. Refer to the wiring terminals inside the sensor unit for specific connections. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
- L (Live): Connect to the main power supply live wire.
- N (Neutral): Connect to the main power supply neutral wire and the neutral wire of the light fixture.
- L' (Switched Live): Connect to the live wire of the light fixture.
After wiring, carefully close the sensor housing, ensuring no wires are pinched and the seal is intact to maintain the IP44 rating.
7. Settings Adjustment
The motion sensor features two adjustable settings: Time and Lux. These settings are typically controlled by rotary knobs located on the sensor unit, often behind a cover.
7.1 Time Setting (TIME)
This setting determines how long the connected light remains on after motion is detected and no further motion is sensed. The adjustable range is from 10 seconds to 7 minutes. Rotate the knob clockwise to increase the duration and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
7.2 Lux Setting (LUX)
The Lux setting controls the ambient light level at which the sensor becomes active. This allows the light to only switch on when it is dark enough. The adjustable range is from 10 Lux (dark) to 2000 Lux (daylight).
- To test the sensor during daylight, set the LUX knob to the maximum (sun icon, ~2000 Lux). The light will activate with motion regardless of ambient light.
- For night-only operation, set the LUX knob to the minimum (moon icon, ~10 Lux). The sensor will only activate when it is sufficiently dark.
Adjust these settings gradually and test the sensor's behavior to achieve the desired performance.
8. Operation
Once installed and configured, the Telefunken motion sensor operates automatically. When motion is detected within its 180-degree field of view and the ambient light level is below the set LUX threshold, the connected light will switch on. The light will remain on for the duration set by the TIME knob, resetting the timer with each new motion detection. If no further motion is detected, the light will switch off after the set time has elapsed.
9. Maintenance
The Telefunken motion sensor requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the sensor lens and housing with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust or dirt that might obstruct detection. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Regularly check the mounting and wiring connections for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure the housing is securely closed to maintain its IP44 rating.
