The VOX VPA14 is a high-capacity portable air conditioner designed to cool large areas, offering 14000 BTU (3400 Frigories) of cooling power. It features an eco-friendly R290 refrigerant, an anti-fungal system, a modern LED panel, and a deep sleep mode for enhanced comfort and efficiency.

2. Safety Information

To prevent injury to the user or other people and property damage, the following instructions must be followed. Incorrect operation due to ignoring instructions may cause harm or damage.

  • Always operate the unit on a stable, level surface.
  • Do not block the air inlets or outlets. Ensure at least 30 cm (12 inches) of clearance around the unit.
  • Do not insert fingers or foreign objects into the air inlets/outlets.
  • Ensure the power cord is not damaged and is properly grounded.
  • Do not operate the unit in wet environments or near water.
  • Unplug the unit before cleaning or servicing.
  • This appliance uses R290 refrigerant, which is flammable. Handle with care and ensure proper ventilation during installation and maintenance.
  • Keep children and pets away from the unit during operation.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your portable air conditioner.

4.1 Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove the air conditioner from its packaging.
  2. Remove all packing materials, including any tape or protective films.
  3. Check for any damage that may have occurred during transit. Contact your retailer if any damage is found.

4.2 Placement

  • Place the unit on a firm, level surface in a location that can support its weight.
  • Ensure there is at least 30 cm (12 inches) of space around the unit for proper airflow.
  • Position the unit near a window or opening for the exhaust hose.

4.3 Exhaust Hose Installation

  1. Attach the exhaust hose connector to the exhaust outlet on the back of the unit.
  2. Extend the exhaust hose to the nearest window or opening. Avoid bending or kinking the hose, as this can reduce efficiency.
  3. Attach the window kit adapter to the other end of the exhaust hose.

4.4 Window Kit Installation

  1. Adjust the window sealing plate to fit your window opening.
  2. Secure the window sealing plate in place.
  3. Insert the exhaust hose adapter into the opening of the window sealing plate.
  4. Ensure the window is closed as much as possible around the kit to prevent outside air from entering.

4.5 Drainage Setup

The unit will collect condensation during operation. You may need to drain it periodically.

  • For continuous drainage, connect a drain hose (not included) to the continuous drain port at the back of the unit and lead it to a floor drain or a suitable container.
  • For manual drainage, the unit will indicate when the water tank is full. Refer to the Maintenance section for instructions on how to drain the water manually.

5. Operating Instructions

Your VOX VPA14 can be operated via the control panel on the unit or the remote control.

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the ON/OFF button on the control panel or remote control to turn the unit on or off.

5.2 Mode Selection

Press the MODE button to cycle through the available modes:

  • Cool Mode: For cooling the room. Adjust the temperature using the + and - buttons.
  • Fan Mode: Circulates air without cooling. Adjust fan speed.
  • Dry Mode (Dehumidify): Reduces humidity in the room. Fan speed is typically fixed in this mode.
  • Sleep Mode: Activates a quiet operation mode with gradual temperature adjustments for comfortable sleep.

5.3 Temperature Setting

  • In Cool Mode, press the + or - buttons to set your desired temperature. The temperature range is typically 16°C to 30°C (61°F to 86°F).

5.4 Fan Speed Adjustment

  • Press the FAN SPEED button to select between Low, Medium, and High fan speeds.

5.5 Timer Function

  • Press the TIMER button to set a time for the unit to automatically turn on or off. Refer to the detailed instructions in the remote control section for specific timer settings.

5.6 Swing Function

  • Press the SWING button to activate or deactivate the automatic oscillation of the air louvers, distributing air more evenly.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your air conditioner.

6.1 Air Filter Cleaning

Clean the air filter every two weeks or more frequently if the unit is used in a dusty environment.

  1. Unplug the air conditioner from the power outlet.
  2. Locate and remove the air filter from the back or side of the unit (refer to your unit's specific design).
  3. Wash the filter under running tap water (max 40°C) or vacuum it to remove dust.
  4. Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinstalling it. Do not expose to direct sunlight.
  5. Once dry, reinsert the filter into the unit.
  6. Press the FILTER RESET button on the control panel (if available) to clear the filter cleaning reminder.

6.2 Water Drainage

When the internal water tank is full, the unit will stop operating and display an indicator. Drain the water as follows:

  1. Turn off the unit and unplug it.
  2. Place a shallow pan or tray under the drain port at the bottom rear of the unit.
  3. Remove the drain plug. Water will flow out.
  4. Once all water has drained, replace the drain plug securely.

6.3 General Cleaning

  • Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure the unit is completely dry before plugging it back in.

6.4 Storage

If the unit will not be used for an extended period:

  1. Drain all accumulated water from the unit.
  2. Clean the air filter.
  3. Run the unit in Fan mode for a few hours to dry the internal components.
  4. Unplug the power cord and coil it neatly.
  5. Store the unit in a dry, cool place, preferably in its original packaging.
