Follow these steps to prepare your DEWALT DXV20P for first use.

4.1 Attaching Casters

  1. Invert the vacuum tank.
  2. Insert each caster stem into the designated holes on the bottom of the tank.
  3. Push firmly until each caster clicks securely into place.

4.2 Filter Installation

The DXV20P uses a washable cartridge filter for dry vacuuming. For wet vacuuming, the cartridge filter should be removed. A foam filter (not included, but typically used for wet applications) would be installed for wet use if available.

  1. Remove the power head from the tank by releasing the side latches.
  2. For dry vacuuming, ensure the washable cartridge filter is securely installed over the filter cage. Twist to lock if applicable.
  3. For wet vacuuming, remove the cartridge filter. If using a foam filter (sold separately), install it over the filter cage.
  4. Replace the power head onto the tank and secure the side latches.

4.3 Connecting the Hose and Accessories

  1. Insert the large end of the vacuum hose into the intake port on the front of the vacuum power head. Twist to secure.
  2. Attach the desired accessory (extension wand, utility nozzle, crevice nozzle, or floor nozzle) to the free end of the hose.

5.1 Dry Vacuuming

  1. Ensure the washable cartridge filter is correctly installed.
  2. Connect the hose to the intake port and attach the desired dry vacuuming accessory.
  3. Plug the power cord into a suitable 230V outlet.
  4. Turn the power switch to the 'ON' position.
  5. Begin vacuuming dry debris.
  6. When finished, turn the power switch to 'OFF' and unplug the unit.

5.2 Wet Vacuuming

  1. Important: Remove the cartridge filter before wet vacuuming. If using a foam filter (sold separately), install it now.
  2. Connect the hose to the intake port and attach a suitable wet vacuuming accessory.
  3. Plug the power cord into a suitable 230V outlet.
  4. Turn the power switch to the 'ON' position.
  5. Begin vacuuming liquids. The vacuum has an automatic ball-tap shut-off that will stop suction when the tank is full.
  6. When the tank is full or you are finished, turn the power switch to 'OFF' and unplug the unit.
  7. Empty the tank immediately after wet vacuuming.

5.3 Blower Function

  1. Locate the blower port on the power head (typically opposite the intake port).
  2. Insert the vacuum hose into the blower port.
  3. Plug the power cord into a suitable 230V outlet.
  4. Turn the power switch to the 'ON' position.
  5. Use the hose to direct airflow for blowing debris.
  6. When finished, turn the power switch to 'OFF' and unplug the unit.

6.1 Filter Cleaning and Replacement
