5. Maintenance and Care

5.1 Cleaning the Fabrics

The car seat features soft, removable, and washable fabrics.

  1. Carefully remove the fabric covers from the car seat frame.
  2. Machine wash the covers in cold water on a delicate cycle with mild detergent. Do not use bleach.

5.2 Cleaning the Harness and Buckle

  • Wipe the harness straps with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash or submerge harness straps in water, as this can weaken the webbing.
  • Clean the buckle by rinsing it under warm water. Do not use soap or detergents on the buckle mechanism. Allow it to air dry completely.

5.3 General Inspection

  • Periodically check all parts of the car seat for wear or damage.
  • Ensure all buckles and adjusters are functioning correctly.
  • Inspect the car seat for any cracks or broken components. If any damage is found, discontinue use and contact customer support.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Cosco Progress Car Seat, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

  • Problem: Car seat moves too much after installation.
Solution: Ensure the vehicle seat belt is routed correctly through the designated belt path. Pull the seat belt firmly to remove all slack. The car seat should not move more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) at the belt path.
  • Problem: Harness straps are difficult to tighten or loosen.
Solution: Check for any twists in the harness webbing. Ensure the harness adjustment strap is pulled straight out from the car seat. If the problem persists, inspect the harness mechanism for obstructions.
  • Problem: Buckle is difficult to latch or unlatch.
Solution: Ensure there are no crumbs or debris inside the buckle mechanism. Rinse the buckle under warm water and allow it to air dry. Do not use lubricants.
  • Problem: Headrest adjustment is stiff.
Solution: Ensure the adjustment handle is fully squeezed. Check for any obstructions behind the headrest.

If these solutions do not resolve the issue, please contact Cosco customer support.
