Setup and Installation

The FREDBECK barn door is designed for relatively quick assembly and installation. Follow these steps carefully.

1. Door Assembly

The door panels are mitered for a snug fit. Assemble the individual spruce wood planks to form the K-frame design. Ensure all connections are secure. The bottom of the door features a pre-made groove for the floor guide.

2. Hardware Installation

  1. Prepare the Wall: Identify stud locations above the door opening. It is highly recommended to install a header board (not included) if studs do not align with the track mounting holes or if the wall material is not solid wood. The header board should be securely fastened to wall studs.
  2. Mount the Track: Attach the 6.6FT sliding track to the wall or header board using the provided spacers and screws. Ensure the track is level and securely fastened.
  3. Attach Hangers to Door: Secure the hangers (rollers) to the top edge of the assembled barn door using the provided bolts.
  4. Install Floor Guide: Position the floor guide on the floor directly below the door's path. Mark and drill holes, then secure the floor guide.
  5. Hang the Door: Carefully lift the door and hook the hangers onto the sliding track. Ensure the door slides smoothly and the bottom groove engages with the floor guide.
  6. Install Pull Handle: Attach the pull handle to the door at your desired height.

Operating Instructions

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and appearance of your barn door.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the wood door surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish. For the hardware, use a dry cloth to remove dust.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically inspect all screws and bolts on the track and hangers to ensure they remain tight. Tighten any loose fasteners.
  • Lubrication: If the door does not slide smoothly, apply a silicone-based lubricant to the track and hanger wheels.
  • Wood Care: Spruce wood is durable. To maintain its appearance, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity, which can cause warping or fading.
