Image Description: This image displays the complete Ingco GMT55231E 4-in-1 Garden Multi-Tool system. From left to right, it shows the pole saw attachment with its chain and bar, the hedge trimmer attachment with its long blade, the main engine unit with its handle and shaft, and the string trimmer/brush cutter attachment with its guard and a three-pronged metal blade lying separately. All components are designed for modular assembly onto the main engine unit.

Main Components:

  • Engine Unit: The core power unit, featuring a 52cc, 1HP (1.4 kW / 2.2 HP) 2-stroke gasoline engine, fuel tank (1200 ml capacity), and control handle.
  • Shaft Assembly: The main shaft connecting the engine unit to the various attachments, often featuring a quick-release coupling mechanism.
  • Brush Cutter Attachment: Used for cutting thick grass, weeds, and small brush. Includes a 3-tooth metal blade (255 mm diameter) and a protective guard.
  • String Trimmer Attachment: Ideal for trimming grass and edging. Features a spool with 2.4 mm x 4 m trimmer line and a protective guard. Maximum cutting width of 420 mm.
  • Hedge Trimmer Attachment: Designed for shaping and trimming hedges and shrubs. Features a long, reciprocating blade.
  • Pole Saw Attachment: For pruning high branches. Includes a chainsaw bar and chain, mounted on an extension pole.

Setup and Assembly

1. Unpacking and Inspection:

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage during shipping. Ensure all parts listed in the components overview are present. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact your dealer immediately.

2. Fuel Mixing (2-Stroke Engine):

IMPORTANT: This tool uses a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific gasoline/oil mixture. Never use pure gasoline.

  • Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 89 or higher.
  • Use high-quality 2-stroke engine oil specifically designed for air-cooled engines.
  • Mix gasoline and oil in the ratio specified by the manufacturer (typically 25:1 or 40:1, refer to engine unit label if available, otherwise use 25:1 for initial use).
  • Mix fuel in a separate, approved fuel container. Shake well before pouring into the tool's fuel tank.
  • Fill the fuel tank (1200 ml capacity) carefully, avoiding spills. Securely close the fuel cap.

3. Attaching the Desired Tool:

The multi-tool features a quick-connect system for attachments.

  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Loosen the coupling knob on the main shaft.
  3. Align the attachment shaft with the main shaft, ensuring the drive shaft engages properly.
  4. Push the attachment fully into the main shaft until it clicks into place.
  5. Tighten the coupling knob securely to prevent movement during operation.
  6. Install the appropriate safety guard for the attachment being used (e.g., brush cutter guard, string trimmer guard).

4. Handle and Harness Adjustment:

Adjust the auxiliary handle to a comfortable position for balance and control. If a shoulder harness is provided, adjust it to distribute the tool's weight evenly and reduce fatigue.

Operating Instructions

1. Starting the Engine:

  1. Place the tool on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible in the clear return line.
  3. Move the choke lever to the "CLOSED" or "START" position.
  4. Set the throttle to the starting position (usually a half-throttle or specific start setting).
  5. Pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly until the engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls). Do not pull the cord to its full extension.
  6. Once the engine fires, move the choke lever to the "OPEN" or "RUN" position.
  7. Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
  8. Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments before engaging the throttle fully.

2. Operating the Brush Cutter / String Trimmer:

  • Hold the tool firmly with both hands.
  • Maintain a stable stance.
  • Swing the cutting head in a controlled arc, keeping it away from your body and obstacles.
  • For string trimming, tap the cutting head on the ground to advance the line if it has an auto-feed head.
  • For brush cutting, use the metal blade for thicker vegetation. Be aware of kickback.

3. Operating the Hedge Trimmer:

  • Ensure the blade is sharp and free of debris.
  • Hold the tool securely, maintaining balance.
  • Cut in smooth, sweeping motions. Avoid cutting branches thicker than recommended for the blade.
  • Keep hands and body clear of the cutting blade.

4. Operating the Pole Saw:

  • Ensure the chain is properly tensioned and lubricated (check oil reservoir if applicable).
  • Stand on a stable surface, never on a ladder while operating a pole saw.
  • Identify the cutting path and ensure no one is beneath the falling branch.
  • Make relief cuts to prevent pinching and control the fall of the branch.
  • Allow the saw to do the work; do not force it.

5. Stopping the Engine:

Release the throttle trigger and move the engine stop switch to the "OFF" position. Allow the engine to cool down before storage or maintenance.

Maintenance

WARNING: Always turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance or cleaning.

1. General Cleaning:

After each use, clean the exterior of the tool with a damp cloth. Remove any grass, dirt, or debris from the engine cooling fins and air intake vents to prevent overheating.

2. Air Filter Maintenance:

Regularly inspect and clean the air filter. A dirty air filter can reduce engine performance and increase fuel consumption. Remove the air filter cover, clean the filter element with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before reinstallation. Replace if damaged.

3. Spark Plug Maintenance:

Inspect the spark plug periodically. Clean any carbon deposits with a wire brush. Check the electrode gap and adjust if necessary (refer to engine specifications for correct gap). Replace the spark plug annually or if it shows signs of wear or damage.

4. Fuel System Maintenance:

At the end of the season or before long-term storage, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel. This prevents fuel degradation and carburetor issues. Store fuel in an approved container in a cool, dark place.

5. Blade and Chain Maintenance:

  • Brush Cutter Blade: Inspect for dullness, cracks, or damage. Sharpen or replace as needed.
  • Hedge Trimmer Blade: Keep blades sharp and lubricated. Remove sap and debris after each use.
  • Pole Saw Chain: Ensure proper tension and lubrication. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull. Check the chain oil reservoir (if present) before each use.

6. Storage:

When storing the tool for extended periods, ensure the fuel tank is empty and the engine has been run dry. Clean the tool thoroughly. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area, out of reach of children and away from heat sources.
