ZKTeco LX15 Biometric Fingerprint Attendance Device User Manual

Your guide to setting up, operating, and maintaining your LX15 device.

1. Product Overview

The ZKTeco LX15 is a standalone biometric fingerprint attendance device designed for efficient time management in small offices and retail environments. It features a 2.8-inch TFT display for user-friendly operation and supports data download via USB without requiring complex network configurations or monthly fees.

2. Setup Guide

2.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the LX15 device from its packaging. Verify that all components are present and undamaged. The package should include the LX15 device, a power adapter, and a user manual.

2.2 Power Connection

  1. Connect the provided 5V power adapter to the device's power supply port.
  2. Plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
  3. The device will power on automatically.

2.3 User Enrollment

Before employees can record attendance, their fingerprints or passwords must be enrolled into the device. The LX15 supports up to 500 users and 500 fingerprints.

To Enroll a Fingerprint:

  1. Press the MENU/M/OK button to access the main menu.
  2. Navigate to User Manage > New User.
  3. Enter a User ID.
  4. Select Enroll FP (Fingerprint).
  5. Place the user's finger on the fingerprint sensor three times, lifting it slightly between each scan, until enrollment is successful.
  6. Repeat for additional fingers or users.

To Enroll a Password:

  1. Follow steps 1-3 above to create a new user.
  2. Select Enroll PWD (Password).
  3. Enter a 6-8 digit password and confirm it.

3. Operation

3.1 Recording Attendance

Employees can record their attendance using either their enrolled fingerprint or password.

Using Fingerprint:

Place an enrolled finger firmly on the fingerprint sensor. The device will confirm successful verification with a visual and audible prompt.

Using Password:

Enter your User ID, then press the M/OK button. Enter your password, then press M/OK again. The device will confirm successful verification.

3.2 Data Download

The LX15 features an in-built SSR (Self-Service-Recorder) function, allowing you to download attendance reports directly to a USB flash drive without needing additional software.

To Download Data via USB:

  1. Insert a USB flash drive (formatted to FAT32, 8GB recommended) into the device's USB port.
  2. Press the MENU/M/OK button.
  3. Navigate to Report > Download Report.
  4. Select the desired report type (e.g., Attendance Log) and date range.
  5. Confirm the download. The device will save the report in Excel format to the USB drive.

4. Maintenance

4.1 General Care

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to direct sunlight, high temperatures, or excessive moisture.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on the device.

4.2 Data Protection and Backup

The LX15 includes a power-off data protection feature, ensuring that attendance records are retained even if power is lost. However, regular data backup to a USB drive is recommended to prevent any unforeseen data loss.

4.3 Fingerprint Sensor Cleaning

If fingerprint recognition accuracy decreases, gently clean the fingerprint sensor surface with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using liquids directly on the sensor.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Device Not Powering On

  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the device and a working power outlet.
  • Verify that the power outlet is supplying power. Try plugging in another device.

5.2 Fingerprint Recognition Failure

  • Ensure the finger is clean and dry.
  • Place the finger firmly and completely on the sensor.
  • Try enrolling the fingerprint again if issues persist.
  • Clean the fingerprint sensor surface as described in Section 4.3.

5.3 USB Data Download Issues

  • Ensure the USB flash drive is formatted to FAT32.
  • Check that the USB drive is properly inserted into the device's USB port.
  • Try using a different USB flash drive (8GB recommended).
  • Ensure there is sufficient space on the USB drive.

5.4 Incorrect Time/Date

  • Access the device menu and navigate to System Settings > Date/Time to adjust.

7. Software Information
