4. Operating and Charging

This battery is designed for optimal performance with compatible Opticon devices.

4.1 Initial Use

New battery packs are typically shipped with a partial charge. For optimal performance and to ensure the battery's full capacity is realized, it is recommended to fully charge the battery before its first use. This process is often referred to as "conditioning" the battery.

4.2 Charging

Use only the original charger or a compatible charger specified for your Opticon device. The battery features over-charge protection to prevent damage, but using an incompatible charger may still lead to issues.

  • Connect your device to its charger.
  • Monitor the charging indicator on your device.
  • Disconnect the charger once the battery is fully charged.

The battery is designed with no memory effect, meaning you can charge it at any time without reducing its overall capacity.

5. Maintenance and Storage

Proper maintenance and storage can significantly extend the lifespan of your battery.

5.1 General Maintenance

  • Keep the battery contacts clean. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe them if necessary.
  • Avoid exposing the battery to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
  • Do not drop or subject the battery to strong impacts.

5.2 Storage

If you plan to store the battery for an extended period, follow these guidelines:

  • Store the battery in a cool, dry place, ideally between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F).
  • Avoid storing the battery in direct sunlight or in places with high temperatures (e.g., inside a car during summer).
  • For long-term storage, it is recommended to store the battery with approximately 50% charge. This helps preserve battery health.
  • Recharge the battery every 3-6 months during long-term storage to prevent deep discharge.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your battery, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

6.1 Reduced Operating Time

If your wireless device's cruising time is significantly reduced even after a full charge, it may indicate that the battery's lifespan is nearing its end.

  • Solution: Consider replacing the battery with a new one. Ensure the new battery is fully charged before first use.

6.2 Battery Not Charging

  • Check Charger: Ensure the charger is properly connected to both the device and a working power outlet. Try a different outlet.
  • Check Device: Verify that your device is functioning correctly with another known-good battery, if possible.
  • Clean Contacts: Gently clean the battery and device contacts with a dry, soft cloth to remove any dust or debris.
  • Temperature: Ensure the charging environment is within the recommended temperature range (typically 0°C to 45°C or 32°F to 113°F).

6.3 Battery Overheating During Use/Charging

  • Immediate Action: Disconnect the battery from the device/charger immediately.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the device has adequate ventilation during use and charging.
  • Charger Compatibility: Confirm you are using the correct charger for your device.
  • Environmental Factors: Avoid charging or using the device in direct sunlight or extremely hot environments.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please contact customer support.
