  2. Using 3M Adhesive Magnetic Pads (Optional):
    • Ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, and smooth.
    • Peel off the protective film from one side of the magnetic pad and firmly attach it to the back of the smoke detector.
    • Peel off the protective film from the other side of the magnetic pad.
    • Press the smoke detector firmly onto the desired installation spot on the ceiling or wall for at least 30 seconds.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Normal Operation

Once installed with a fresh battery, the smoke detector is continuously monitoring for smoke. A small red LED indicator light will flash periodically (e.g., every 30-40 seconds) to confirm it is operating correctly.

5.2. Testing the Alarm

It is crucial to test your smoke detector monthly to ensure it is functioning properly. To test:

  1. Press and hold the large test button located on the center of the detector.
  2. The red LED will flash rapidly, and the alarm will sound a loud, pulsating siren.
  3. Release the button. The alarm should stop.

If the alarm does not sound during testing, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

5.3. Alarm Indication

When smoke is detected, the alarm will sound a loud, continuous siren, and the red LED will flash rapidly. Take immediate action according to your fire escape plan.

5.4. Low Battery Warning

When the 9V battery voltage is low, the detector will emit an intermittent "chirp" sound (e.g., once every 30-40 seconds) and the red LED will flash. This indicates that the battery needs to be replaced immediately.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Monthly Testing

Test your smoke detector at least once a month using the test button to confirm proper operation.

6.2. Battery Replacement

Replace the 9V battery annually, or immediately when the low battery warning sounds. Refer to Section 4.1 for battery installation steps.

6.3. Cleaning Your Smoke Detector

Dust and debris can accumulate on the smoke detector and affect its performance. Clean your detector at least once a year:

  • Gently vacuum the exterior of the detector using a soft brush attachment.
  • Do not paint the detector, as this can block the smoke entry points and interfere with proper operation.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Alarm does not sound during test.Dead or improperly installed battery.Replace battery or ensure it is correctly installed.
Alarm chirps intermittently.Low battery.Replace the 9V battery immediately.
False alarms (alarm sounds without smoke).Dust or debris in the sensor chamber; high humidity or steam; cooking fumes.Clean the detector (see Maintenance); relocate detector away from kitchens/bathrooms or areas with high humidity.
