3. Safety Information
WARNING: Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries can be dangerous if not handled correctly. Failure to follow these safety guidelines may result in fire, personal injury, or property damage.
- Charging: Always use a dedicated LiPo compatible charger. Never use a NiMH/NiCd charger. Charge in a fire-safe area, away from flammable materials, and never leave charging batteries unattended.
- Storage: Store LiPo batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a LiPo-safe bag or container. Do not store fully charged or fully discharged for extended periods.
- Handling: Do not puncture, drop, short-circuit, or disassemble the battery. Avoid physical impact. If the battery swells, leaks, or shows any damage, discontinue use immediately and dispose of it safely.
- Disposal: Do not dispose of LiPo batteries in regular trash. Consult local regulations for proper disposal of LiPo batteries.
- Temperature: Do not expose the battery to temperatures above 60°C (140°F) or below 0°C (32°F).
4. Setup
4.1 Initial Charging
- Ensure you have a LiPo compatible charger (not included). Refer to your charger's manual for specific instructions.
- Connect the battery's Mini TMY connector to the charger's output port.
- Connect the battery's balance lead (if present) to the charger's balance port.
- Set the charger to the correct LiPo mode, voltage (11.1V), and charging current (typically 1C, which is 1.2A for a 1200mAh battery).
- Begin charging and monitor the battery closely. Disconnect once fully charged.
4.2 Battery Installation
- Ensure your airsoft gun is powered off and safe.
- Locate the battery compartment in your airsoft gun (e.g., stock, handguard).
- Carefully insert the TATTU LiPo stick battery into the compartment. Ensure wires are not pinched.
- Connect the Mini TMY connector from the battery to the corresponding connector in your airsoft gun.
- Close the battery compartment securely.
5. Operating the Battery
Once installed and charged, your TATTU LiPo battery is ready for use with your airsoft gun.
- Turn on your airsoft gun.
- Monitor battery performance during use. If you notice a significant drop in power or rate of fire, it's time to recharge.
- Avoid fully discharging the LiPo battery, as this can damage it. Most airsoft guns with LiPo compatibility have low voltage cut-offs. If your gun does not, consider using an external LiPo alarm.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Charging Practices
- Always balance charge your LiPo battery to ensure cell voltage consistency.
- Never overcharge or over-discharge the battery.
6.2 Storage
- For long-term storage, charge or discharge the battery to a storage voltage (typically 3.8V per cell).
- Store in a cool, dry, fire-safe location, ideally in a LiPo-safe bag or box.
6.3 General Care
- Inspect the battery regularly for any signs of damage, swelling, or loose connections.
- Keep connectors clean and free from dirt or corrosion.
- Avoid exposing the battery to moisture or extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Battery not charging | Incorrect charger settings; Faulty charger; Damaged battery; Loose connection | Verify charger settings (LiPo mode, voltage, current); Try a different charger; Inspect battery for damage (swelling, leaks); Ensure all connections are secure. |
| Airsoft gun not firing or low power | Battery discharged; Poor connection; Battery damage; Incompatible battery | Recharge battery; Check battery and gun connectors for secure fit; Inspect battery for damage; Ensure battery specifications (voltage, discharge rate) are compatible with your airsoft gun. |
| Battery swelling | Overcharging; Over-discharging; Physical damage; Age | Immediately discontinue use and safely dispose of the battery. Swelling indicates a dangerous condition. |
